Hypothetical at this stage, but my gut feel is Pup is in no fit state to run over to NZ and jump into a Test Match.

If that were to be the case, what do you think the Selectors would do?

FWIW

I think they would draft White into the squad and I think he would play in the Test.

I think Smith has been taken as work experience along with Hughes to a lesser degree.

I am not convinced about White at Test level, but given his recent ODI form, his confidence should be high, he is used to the conditions and its probably worth a shot.

Interested in peoples thoughts.

If Clarke goes to NZ then he will play, iv got little doubt over it. The selectors have shown that they are very loyal and physicaly hes right to go. If he doesnt go to NZ then you would assume that White would join the test squad. As for who plays im not sure. The selectors have shown alot of faith towards Smith so he could bat at 6 or 7 with the ability to play two spinners if we want or he could just play as a batter (which im not a fan of). Hughes could also get a go with on of Katich or Watson moving to 5 but i see that as a very unlikely situation.

Pup'll play the Tests; otherwise, they'll throw Hughes/Smith in at 6.

Think he will play, i would have Smith or D Hussey take the spot if he dont get back - both handy with the bat and ball
