A brilliant debut in my opinion.
Anyone else see it? Thought it was hilarious.
I used to love watching Micallef on 'Micallef Pogram' last year on ABC.
He is a comic genius. A great talk show. Look and take note Rove.

why have they got that on instead of sex and the city?

Because it's better....no, because it's good.
Terrible. Unfunny.
They've just packaged a bunch of wierd **** into sketches.

I thought it was great, another great comedy to watch instead of boring lifestyle programming.
Loved the bit for those who were missing Sex And The City.

Utterly brilliant. I have not laughed so hard in ages.
And I reckon it will be axed in about 6 weeks.

You are very insightful for a Collingwood supporter;)
Seriously I thought it was great and everything I thought it would be. It's unusual for Channel Nine to do something this edgy so it will be interesting to see how long it lasts.
The wheel was a scream.Love those prizes and the bit when Danni was singing and they cut to Shaun not paying attention to her but watching Denton on Channel 2. Which leads me to my only complaint why can't Channel 9 put it up against Rove on Tuesdays and not Denton on Mondays.
It was on in the background and I saw a few funny bits, but Micallef, he just rubs me the wrong way for some reason.
I only saw a bit,but Micallef watching DENTON while Danni Minogue was miming was funny.

Shaun Micallef, brilliant as always.
Sadly it is the Guey_34's of the world who have the people meters. It will be gone in a few months.

Emphasis on "miming", I'm sure, just like all the other pretentious pop diva princesses.
Very funny stuff tonight, especially when Shaun was sending up all the modern talk-show conventions.
And especially when Jamie Drury was on... "Well, after that long introduction, I don't have any questions to ask you." Jamie was a great sport about all of that (I'm sure that was a set-up beforehand, though).
Better than a few giggles or chuckles tonight-- definitely worth a few guffaws, and laugh-out-loud moments. Will definitely tune in again next week.

No wonder Rove won a Gold Logie. It's people like you that would buy a TV Week with the sole purpose of sending in votes for that boring, unoriginal, talentless midget. Much like yourself, I presume.
I thought last night's show was brilliant, but I think that Australia won't be ready for humour beyond "What The?" and playing charades on tv. I hope he lasts though, he's a comic genius.
Micallef was, as usual, unfunny.
This doesnt mean i find Rove funny.
I find em both boring and predictable.
Someone like Billy Connolly is funny.

Now, I know you're just making it up. 'The Man Who Sued God' was the biggest piece of crap I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through.
Personally I thought that his stuff on Ch 2 was better. Initially he seemed nervous but everything seemed to work as the show went on. Once he becomes more secure the show will really start to gain momentum.

Loved it,good to see most of the edge is still there despite the move to 9.
Loved the Livinia Nixon/ Rialto bit.

Wouldnt call it brilliant but it was very good still.
My highlights were the first day at channel 9, where the guy was choosing the programming for the week:D the rigged wheel, and the denton part.
I think it will turn out like Welcher & Welcher, the first week wasn't brilliant but it got allot better as the weeks got on. Did anyone see the pictures on the wall behind him?:D

Thats because Billy isnt a great actor.
Doesnt mean he isnt the best standup comedian in the World - which he is.

Mate, that was NOT Billy Connely - that was Billy acting, you know, using a script.
Billy is at his ultimate when he is live onstage (or on the road as in Billy Connelly's Tour of Australia)
As for Micallef very funny, but sadly I can't see it staying on commercial television (please Ch9 prove me wrong *pleads*)

I didn't see it all, but I liked what I did see. Micallef is the funniest guy in Australia

i thought it was a great show...there's no doubt that micallef is a funny man.
i hope the show somehow manages to not get the axe immediately (ch9 must be ****ed off that they let go of rove & now he's won a gold logie). i think the interviews will be a crucial part to this happening since the opening monologue was prob. the high point of the show. as for rove, there's no doubt he's a funny guy as well, but his show seems like one long advert, he asks the same boring old questions during interviews & his 'live' aspect doesn't really enhance the show.
i definitely find micallef's 'outside-the-square' humour to be a lot funnier.

**** off, DB. I don't watch Rove or any of these contrived 'variety' shows that could not pull off good humour if they tried. Micallef is a funny guy, don't get me wrong - but this show reeked of Channel 9 (evil personified) so blatantly, it was ridiculous.
A chicken parmegana on a podium. Yay.
Jamie Durie's 'interview'... oh, comic genius!
I'll give the show some time to hit its straps, but to have an uniformed go at me doesn't prevent me from being highly uninspired by this debut.

I thought the show was great. Like sog35, I thought he was a little nervous early, but the show got better as it wore on.
As for Rove - I find him a try-hard. His production company does three shows; Rove - distinctly unfunny; Skithouse - delicious title given the standard of the show; and After the Game - should be on Channel 31.
Let's hope Channel 9 persevere with a quality show.

What about the line about sewing your victims skin together with a pfaff sewing machine? Or the joke about crack cocaine at channel 9 being the best?
Contrived variety show my arse. 'Mum friendly' rove would never have the balls, let alone talent, to let jokes like that out on national tv.
I thought it was the dodgiest thing I've seen in a long time.
I loved it!

Not too bad for a first up will need to do better as enough rope with Denton is a far better show in the same time slot ....:p :o

Just like his previous shows (IMHO) some bits of it worked really well, while others just fell flat on their arse.

From what i caught of it ...i really liked it although he didnt seem in his element when it came to the interviews but i assume that will improve as he settles into the role ..thumbs up.

Shaun Micallef is the funniest guy on TV by a long way and Micallef Tonight was hilarious. He leaves Rove & Denton for dead.

I thought it was fantastic, another favourite was when the guy came over and offered him the champagne, only for Micallef to decline and continue with his monologue.
If he can keep up the quality of that first show it will be a winner.
I don't understand all the venom towards Rove though. Seems a genuinely likeable and pretty funny guy to me. A totally different sort of humour, but not without its merit IMO.
I will keep watching both shows.

Loved the early Good News Week, but that just went sooooo downhill in later years....
I'll stick with Andrew Denton and my ABC
