THE ONLY MYSTERY IS ... WHO’S EIGHTH?
PENCIL in seven teams, in no particular order, to make the eight: St Kilda, Geelong, Western Bulldogs, Brisbane Lions, Collingwood, Hawthorn and Adelaide. Look for four teams to be fighting for that eighth position: Port Adelaide, Sydney, Carlton and Essendon. In the NAB Cup, the Power showed they are more team-orientated, harder and structured than last year and I’m sure former North coach now Port assistant Dean Laidley has had a fair say in that. Paul Roos will want finals action in his last season as coach of the Swans, while the Bombers and Blues will be out to improve on last season. For what it’s worth, I think the Bombers will get there.

Doesn't exactly go out on a limb with any of his predictions but at least he's impartial. :thumbsu:Being an ex-bomber he has to say he thinks the Dons will get in there otherwise he'll inadvertently be ruffing up a few feathers.
he rates port & sydney more than west coast?? interesting!!
id say add hawthorn and west coast fighting for 7th-8th
Actually yeah that's the one thing I'm surprised at ... rating Port and Swans above WCE.

No I don't think so, I think he genuinely believes we are top 8 material. And besides he's paid to give his honest opinion he wouldn't worrying about what other people think. I'm surprised he didn't have West Coast fighting out for the last spot in the 8.

I'm not buying into this Hawthorn are back talk. Despite injuries last year, it seemed to me the rest of the comp had worked out the game plan that served them so well the year before. They still lack any sort of decent ruck division, and already injuries are mounting.
I expect an improvement, but I think they will be at the very bottom of the eight fighting it out to make finals again.
Most of the rest I agree with.

Depends how the forward trio go this year.

Port's surprising, Sydney isn't. To me anyway.

Hawthorn won't make the 8.
We will.. barring injuries.
As for Lloydy, no offence, but I never really cared for what he said. Only what he did.

Alot of the times i have been hearing and seeing WCE in the top 8 in 2010 predictions or very close to it, why do people rate them so high ? because they're last three games of 2009 were good ?
seriously i think they still need abit to develop.
Thoughts ?

They're a bit 50/50 tbh. Saw them at Subi in the first NAB game. They were slow to start but smashed us after half time.
I think they'll go close to making the eight, maybe a bit like us last year. They've definitely got the talent. It's just a case of making it gel for a whole season at this stage I reckon.
Next year though, I think they'll make the 8 no worries at all.. bit like us this year. :)

They can score well and young guys are looking good. He mentioned Port and IMO WCE >> Port.

Thoughts ?As IsDon said, they're similar to where we were last year.
They have one of the better Full Backs in Glass; a few promising CHBs in Spangher, Mitch Brown, MacKenzie and Wilkes; two of the more dynamic ruckmen in Cox and Naitanui; a potentially elite CHF in Kennedy, and a mixture of Full Forwards in Lynch, McKinley and Wilson; as well as a guy who should've been AA in LeCras as another option. For midfielders, take your pick of Kerr, Ebert, Masten, Swift, Embley, Selwood, Selwood and even Luke Shuey, who has massive wraps on him.
They might only be 8th-10th this year, but the list is there. The Eagles will be a powerhouse in a year or two.
