Ok, a little like the Simpsons vs Southpark thread - i.e. They're both very different.

I totally love The Young Ones - one of the most original and best Brit comedy series ever. But I asked myself what would I take to the desert island if I had to choose - and it'd have to be Fawlty Towers - sublime comedy.

Interesting choice Pred- both shows stand the test of time but if i was to choose i'd take The Young Ones, but only because i've seen all the fawlty towers episodes about a dozen times.

I can't split the 2, both classics. The scene where Viv kicks his head along the railway has me laughing till the tears run down my face everytime (You took your time, you bastard!! THUD :D ), but then so does Basil doing the goosestep in the dining room in front of the German guests (Whatever you do, don't mention the war. I did once, but I think I got away with it.)

Nup, can't pick one over the other. S'cuse me while I get the splinters out of my arse from fence sitting. :p

Fawlty Towers.

John Cleese is the King.
Only made 12 or 13 episodes such is his commitment to perfection. Only the best would do.

If i had to choose it would be Fawlty Towers

but if I could take a few would always have Fawlty Towers, Young Ones, Black Adder, Absolutely Fabulous, Late Show and my Monty Python dvd's..........

Love classic comedies.......:D

Cant decide between 'Flowery ****s' Or 'Farty Towels'.

Even though I loved 'Young Ones' for me there is no comparison. It has to be 'Fawlty Towers'

Port1978 you've had a deprived life.

The young ones was a classic. I even have the single they relesed with Cliff Richard in 1986 on vinyl.

Don't ask stupid questions.

Fawlty Towers (and that's even without mentioning the War!)

Huge no brainer.

You might (just might) have had an argument with Blackadder but The Young Ones!!!!!!

Please................

Both very different types of comedies but having to choose, I go with the Young Ones. Completely brilliant.

Okies out of the two I would have to choose The Young Ones. By miles.

But as DB said, they're two VERY different types of comedy.

The problem with both is that they never made many of either one, which was the real same.
