View Full Version : "Essendon's Latest Recruit" series - Collingwood
Previous installements:
Adelaide (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=682451), Brisbane (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=683153), Carlton (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=684041)The Carlton thread is doomed for failure, much like I expect (but hope not) the Melbourne one will be, with every 2nd response likely to be "jackie watts."
On top of that, we're running out of time before the season starts, and isn't that brilliant. Not long now!
Anyway, Collingwood are very much a 'meh' side to me, so can't really be bothered writing my thought process out.
My choice of player:
Scott Pendlebury

Having said that, I'd go Didak on ability; I simply think he's a massive douche, and wouldn't want him at the club. Therefore, the 22 year-old Vice-Captain gets the nod.
Pendlebury or Swan. I'm undecided but leaning towards Pendles.

Didac...best finisher in the pies..
for a bit left field....Dane Beams
Pendlebury. Smoothest mover through traffic in their entire side including their plethora of half forward flankers.

Pendles, without a doubt, the only Pie with any class.

Its unanimous, Pendlebury.
It seems to be all one-way traffic for Pendles, and rightly so. He's exactly what we need. Gun.
Next one on the hit-list for mine would be Harry O.
Travis Cloke or Josh Fraser, :D not....
on a more serious note, Pendlbury, or Swan,
anyone for heath shaw if he changed his name ??

Didak is the only elite talent on the list but probably go with Swan. Pendles okay aswell.

Dids is a consistent matchwinner across half forward or the midfield. The first person you worry about when playing the Pies.
Elite talent is subjective. Will have a crack and say it is being in the top few at your given position over a long period of time. He probably sits comfortably with Chappy in the role of top Half forward / midfielder in the comp.

I've long been impressed with Paul Medhurst and thought it a boon for the Pies when they secured him. Medhurst is so cool under pressure, has awesome skills, leads to the right spot and is tough. His experience would be very handy...
Having said that, Pendlebury seems pretty good.

Didak is the best Pie however with his bagage I have to take Pendles instead- a classy mover & sublime user of the ball.
Classy midfielder with good skills and great endurance.
Easily Pendlebury.
Medhurst .. but hes not what we need.
pendlebury.
