View Full Version : Finally...
No I dont mean beating the Roos, that was gonna happen sooner or later.
It's been a long time (ever??) since I've seen Port in the AFL bury a team in the 4th quarter. Well today it finally happened, it would have been nice to kick a few more but the Roos certainly held us up, as they have done so many times before.
And thanks Chocko for sticking with Byron, he was my number 1 target in the trade period last year, he was dependable today as was C-Collins in the last.
Wangas tore the place up again, but that has come to be expected.
Whoo-****ing-hoo!!!!!!
Finally... Ladey also played a good game for us.
Unfortunately the Guru still didn't get a good run, oh well there's always next week.

Zero coverage of this game in WA today (well, for non-Fox subscribers anyway) - and the AFL site didn't even have live score/stats working. I've read the comments here and some rather emotional ones on the Kangas board - do we have anything to worry about with Cornes? And did Josh Carr get injured (his stats look very low)?

Sinclair got injured from the bump that Chad laid, it was 100% fair. As for what the NM supporters are going on about, well i'm not sure, didn't notice it at the game and haven't seen a replay although nothing was said on any of the radio that i heard on the way back.
Carr wasn't injured just didn't have a big day out.
Wakes & Brogan were carrying (slight) injuries into todays game and both spent a fair amount of time on the bench.
Cornes rolled Jess over after bumping him and put his knees in his side and abused him
I had no problem with the bump, it was 100% fair it was what he did after it that we have the problem with
Well done to your team though, really killed us in the last quarter

One of the endless replays is just starting so i have a look at it then and get back to you about the Cornes incident. Might tape the game and watch it 9 times, will that make it 10-all?
Watching at AAMI stadium, it was great to see the last quarter result on the scoreboard, Port should have been 2 or 3 up at half time with the possession dominance we seemed to have.
****y had a good game and Wangas all Power supporters should have a lazy $10 on him for the Brownlow.

The real bonus was that in the second half we beat them the way they normally beat us. Jarrad Schofield's late cameo pulling a David King-esque run from the pack and long low goal was particularly sweet.
Their defensive matchups failed to take advantage of superior height, while their forward line lacked a fair bit of ground play - perhaps they need a bit more versatility these days?
It was great to see the usual suspects for North limited in their effectiveness for the most part too.
Shaun Burgoyne would have to be the hardest player to match up on in the AFL, I'd reckon. Strength, pace, awareness, height and flexibility - I can't think of any taggers/defenders that have all of these.
Che proved me wrong today, he got back into form with some great ground work as opposed to the one-dimensional quasi-tall game he often favours.
As for Chad's little incident with Sinclair, well as much as it wasn't nice, its good to see that the players remember we owe North a few.

Kingy has struggled all year apart from the odd cameo and whilst Harvey is giving 100% as always, he doesn`t look quite right. Credit to you guys for taking advantage in the second half.
Small forwards have been cutting us up all year. Even Burns kicked three in a low scoring game. Our game plan appears to give them a chance which is of concern.
Haven`t seen the Cornes incident yet so I can`t comment. I would take your attitude of I was on that side of the fence though.
Interested to hear your thoughts on our game plan from a neutral perspective. Putting aside that we didn`t hit targets today, do you think we are on the right track?

That he has 25 goals after 8 rounds (and only 4 off leading Coleman) is certainly showing his second full year of AFL isn't a case of second year blues. Adding Junior alongside Tredrea and Cornes as quality forwards makes our forward line one of the hardest to match up against. Now if just all three can fire in the same match :D

what annoyed me the most was that there was no evening up...
if Cornes had of done that two to ten years ago he would have been carried off the field very sore... of course it was a legit bump and knee drop... just as the evener would have been...
anyway footy karma will fix this one... oh and when it does... please don't cry...
