The short answer is yes.
I'm gonna have to organise a trip to Richmond to see this!
I won't consider this not to be a dream until after i've seen them defeat Centrals, and maybe Sturt aswell. I'll be at richmond for this one (wanted to be there for the south thumping, except if there were to be a booze bus between here and richmond I would've been ****ed :()
After starting the season poorly last year and coming home alright until the elimination debacle, this season may be the opposite for us. We are incredibly young and even the older players in the squad are not greatly experienced at SANFL A grade level. Luke Norman for example, vice-captain, 31 years of age, 60 games. That said Richo, Myles, Hahn and Howard all lead from the front and they provide a solid basis for the young fellas to work off.
What also helps is having Marshy in the team. He may be an AFL hack and even a little soft at SANFL level but this season he has won the rucks more than lost it.
This week against Sturt may be the greatest test in the season so far. Sturt coming off a loss, the boys riding high after a big win, Thank God we have had a couple of extra days rest!

I believe West will account for Sturt!!!!!
I think some people have been convinced via the constant Sturt posting on these boards, that they are the best thing since sliced bread........... They are anything but!!!
Wests juniors have been strong for a while and that with finally some selective recruitment has seen this side improve markedly this year, they are the real deal...... Will be interesting to see how many of their younger ones go in the draft, on what Ive seen Adam Cooney is Top half a dozen in the draft material.........

I'm finding it hard to watch him play coz I know it will be the last time I'll see him at Westies. Mind you Salopek was just as good if not better for the Bays. Different sorts mind you.
Oh and you'll have to excuse my reluctance at praising to the high heavens, this is West Adelaide remember ;)
If win this week our only loss is at Elizabeth. And even better there is no final called 'Elimination' this year!!!

Steven Salopek is very impressive, Not too much longer before he will be selected again for the Power!!!!
But this Cooney bloke!!!! I had no idea who he was the day Norwood surrendered at Richmond, Im thinking "Who the hell is this bloke" looks like he do with some soap and a decent scrub, but unlimited potential, he'll go early in the draft, looks a versatile player capable of playing almost anywhere.... Is he a City or a Country Boy??????

Westies appear to finally have some heart - although their contest against the Dogs provided no indication of that.
It might be fair to say that Centrals have been their only true test so far this season - the other teams they have played and beaten are having very inconsistent season's so far (read Norwood and South).
Whether they match it with Sturt will be the next big test. A win over Sturt will confirm them as the real deal.
Cooney is a star, while Tuck (a spitting image of his father) and Hassan are very good pick ups.
How the relative youthfulness affects the side and their consistency later on in he season will be interesting.
Whatever happens it is a shot in the arm for the SANFL to have Westies thriving again - they have been a joke for a while now, depsite making some finals appearances.
