View Full Version : Gilchrist Captain ?
word in the Age today that Waugh may miss the next test. This would make Gilchrist captain in only his 12th test. Amazing ?
I cannot think of another player who has captained their country after less tests (except the inargural captains of all the teams of course).
Ponting must be regretting that night in the nightclub in Sydney even more now !

ptw - I haven't seen our Sunday Times paper yet, but can you tell why Waugh will miss the next test?
Gilchrist seems a good leader and if he is the fill in captain in only his 12th test that would be an amazing achievement! However I think the selectors would be looking at someone more long term, I cant see Gilchrist as a full time captain for Australia.

GoEagle, Waugh has strained or torn a muscle in his buttock. It is estimated that it will take 2-4 weeks to heel, hence he may miss the Adelaide test.
I agree with you that Captaincy for Gilchrist in his 12th Test is quite a fairy tale for him, and that the ACB should be looking for a future captain now (i.e. Ponting) rather than to fill the VC position with a public relations exercise.

I have always respected Adam Gilchrist and thing he could handle the job on and off the field very effectively. Ponting for VC.
