View Full Version : Is paul Williams being touted as Maxfield's likely replacement!

windbag

There are a lot of articles about Williams in papers Australia wide which sound like the hype that accommpanied the announcement of Maxfield as capatin.

Could it be a possibility that Sydney will jettison the present Captain for a safer option.

Surely Goodes would be next in line for the Swanies captaincy?

You really have something against Maxfield don't you.

How about some proof that the Swans are thinking of replacing Maxfield other than "there are alot of articles Australia wide on Willo" that proves nothing

Could you perhaps link some of these articles? I mean... you're so big on being able to back-up statements... I've seen none.

What's "unsafe" about Maxfield? The team is winning a few games, apparently with the worst list in the comp. He's contributing, kicking a few goals including probably the sealer against Melbourne and arguably the sealer today against Geelong.

It was probably a toss up between him and Willo last time round. One of Bolton, Goodes, maybe even Kennelly probably to take over in a couple of years.

You can not doubt Maxie and if you have then you have obviously not watched much of our Footy. He has copped a baggin on this board, the only place i have seen. He comes up at crucial moments and is a born leader, although nowhere near as god as Kells.

The team is playing awesome footy tearin apart all before them at the moment and their captain is still coping a few words from morons who have obviously something against him. I would hate to see what would it be like if it was 2 from 7 not 5.

Another newbie interstate bandwagoner jumping onboard.

Wonder if they will still be here, if the Swans start losing a few games.

Yeah, like he's leading the "worst list in the comp" which is now nicely ensconced in the 8. He's averaging more possessions and goals per game than his career averages and senior players have endosed him as a fine captain.

You're right, the guy's a real loser - the Swans should dump him!

P.S. Why did you need to start a second thread to discuss this great non-issue.

Riiiigggghhhhtttt.... so new people can only join Bigfooty if they support a Victorian club? Support a struggling club? What?

The fact that he just started probably has nothing to do with the fact that the Swans are winning.

Well seriously Mantis... you came on board in March 2001, according to your profile. Were you a bandwagon jumper? Did you only come on to Bigfooty because you supported the reigning premier?

Good for the goose... good for the gander.

Actually, I joined up in April 2000, not long after the site started, but I changed my username.

I have stuck around here, even after our bad patches, but I have noticed the interstaters, seem to be abundant only in good times, we have a some dedicated interstaters, who are here through thick & thin, but we have a lot of bandwagoners.

Time will tell, see who is still around at the end of the season, should their team start losing.

People have to start somewhere Charlie. As far as the thread is concerned it is a valid question which raises histrionics in Swans supporters.

Perhaps a sponsor should be asked if they are happy with the way things are going.

The Swans are a very good side and will be in the 8 and possibly as high as 4, but they dont need anything to distract them from that quest. I like Paul Williams and he has everything going for him, frankly Stuart Maxfield could wrestle 20 crocs, bite the head off a cobra and kill 400 buffaloes with a single punch but it still doesnt make him a Captain of Men.

Willo knocked himself out today, so I guess he really lead by example didn't him??

mantraray
18 May 2003, 20:14
Maybe that one is poetic justice because he seemed to be aiming at players and not the ball.

BTW He may be a great guy but he is no Captain, give the team Paul Williams.

I will as stated on the other thread get advice on how to so it but then you havent answered one single question as yet. Are you paid to defend Swans players.

You accuse me of quoting hearsay, when you're entire purpose for being on Bigfooty is to bring to people's attention some drivel on another site that is the definition of hearsay?

No what I personally want is to see the right person in the right job and Maxfield doesnt fit into the boots.

But I am finishing work and I need to have a drink and forget the names Robbieando and CharlieG. And dont you start personally abusing me or my wife either.

Thanks for the lovely welcome big fella. I have actually been viewing these boards for roughly 8 months now under a different name, motorace_182 but that had problems due to email accounts etc so i wouldnt exantly call it jumping on the bandwagon after beeing a member since well before any joy up here. Yes i will be here if we lose a few as unlike a few supporters i do stick by my side.

And its time to start to realise what is abuse and what is not and I take some of things you have said about my partner as a reflection on me and you have lumped me with others I have no knowledge of so cut it out. I am old enough to be your big sister and if I was I would smack you around the ears.

Now CharlieG/Robbieando you can help work out where the venue was and then what happened when we get the full list.

I dont think you are going to be a popular boy.

Ah... I see. So you recognise what is abuse. Can you recognise harassment as well? Can you look in a mirror and put two and two together?

And I repeat, we didn't abuse you. You chose to take it that way. But what the hell. You haven't actually READ anything else I've said. Why start now?

you have made a bad error in Judgement Charlie! :D

Explain my "bad error of judgment".

As far as I can see, their are suddenly 3 usernames that are being used wholly and solely to harass me, and make it impossible for me to actually enjoy Bigfooty.

Then you have the audacity to complain about abuse?

Mantis, Motorace is OK. There's some shocking bandwagon types in Sydney, but he isn't one of them.

If I were a Swans sponsor (I'm not, I don't have the money to sponsor any team and I'm a Bomber fan, although I was at the game today) I wouldn't have any issues with Stuie Maxfield's captaincy.

I doubt your post will last long on here when you name place - remember this site will close anything that is liable - same reason you got banned from RWO.
