Just wanted to post a quick note on your boards of heartfelt congratulations.

Each Geelong loss is coming with a bit more pain every time, but I couldn't help but notice that Sydney is improving more and more as the season goes forward.

Great win by the Swans today, and as a Geelong fan, I'd like to give credit where credit is due.

Shows that the recent wins over Collingwood and Brisbane, those were no flukes. It could have been easy to have let their guard down against the Cats, given our current ladder position, and especially when Geelong lifted in the third term and got reasonably close (22 points) in the final quarter. But with the game on the line, the Swans saw the game out. Great showing of character by your side...

Definite improvement in Sydney's form and fortunes over the last 12 months, and this looks like an exciting period in the Swans' fortunes.

Good onya, Sydney...

Why thank you - the Cats aren't that bad and only the first half cost you the match. Come back well and if you keep it up you'll be winning again in no time.

You're a good guy, Y_I - thanks for the post. I never really enjoy the Sydney v Geelong games as I've been stung too many times in the past (err.. like last year!).

Though my girlfriend and I had a great old time during the match, abusing Mark Thompson's lack of any clue at all (she is a Geelong supporter, and nearly had a fit in the first quarter hurling abuse at the ineptness). Geelong are a decent side - have good players, but need a good gameplan or it's never going to work.

Thanks in kind for the kind words yourself, Des.

What you've said here, I guess that (aside from the general game itself) was the inspiration behind me starting the topic and giving credit where it's due (something which I'll always do, by the way).

When the Cats got to within 22 points early in the final term, that's where last year's Sydney team would have folded up like a house of cards. In fact, that's exactly what they did, as Geelong did win on the last kick in last season's corresponding fixture.

And while I felt that the Cats could have made the same sort of lightning strike twice in the same place, and although I was disappointed in the result for my side and the manner in which it occurred, I completely have to admire the manner in which the Swans saw the game out. Shows how much they've grown and matured in the last year or so.

That was a big reason behind the difference between the two teams today, I'll agree.

Roos had a gameplan that his team stuck to, and we on the Geelong side of things wonder if Thompson's even got a tactical clue sometimes.

Keep up the good work, guys...
