Just noticed that our Gav is leading the Age Footballer of the Year award with 59 votes. Others are
53 Voss
52 Buckley
37 Goodes
37 M Gardiner
36 McLeod
36 N Lappin
35 Coughlan
32 N Stevens
30 Ricciuto

Unfortunately, the caption beneath Wangas' photo says "Port skipper Gavin Wanganeen is the vote leader after round eight."

In the Monday match reviews, there's this:
"Has a VFL/AFL team ever been able to boast of five first-class Aboriginal players having such an influence on a match as Port did with Gavin Wanganeen, Peter and Shaun Burgoyne, Byron Pickett and Che ****atoo-Collins?" (That's Alan Sheill!)

Yep, must be something pretty potent in that Port Lincoln water.

My thoughts during the match was maybe we should have been renamed to the Aboriginal all-stars instead of the Power saturday.

Am I the only one wishing some other Brisbane players then Voss would hurry up and stand up so super Gav. has a clear run at the Brownlow ?

And we've just recently had Derek Murray depart, oh it says first class, whoops.

Seriously though look at the amount of tackles, sheppards/blocks and clearances they had on the weekend which is something most aboriginal players aren't noted for. They are a great bunch and when on song they are almost impossible to stop. Now when McLeod grows homesick towards the end of the year he can come join them, might be able to squeeze John**** into the team somewhere as well;)

I was referring to the fact that Pickett and CCC have been two of the more maligned players in recent times on this board. Is that bullshit?

I knew it was but remember it was the actual article by Alan Sheill that quoted all the players as first class..............

Pickett and Che have a long way to go before we'll be referring to them as 1st class on their efforts so far this season.........

Hey it wasn't us, it was that tremendously talent sports writer Alan Sheill who said it! (see we're not fickle, even when it comes to jornos;) :p )

Anyway Pickett is first class, Che, well he can be but he can also be completely hopeless.

Pickett has been first class and will be again, but is yet to settle in with Port.
CCC is definitely first class. The problem though is that he has a twin brother that is not. ;)
