The NSW/ACT RAMS U16 team has been selected in readiness for the AFL National U16 Championships to be played in Adelaide in July.

The team of 30 was chosen after an internal trial was played at Manuka Oval in Canberra yesterday.

Head Coach Rod Carter and fellow selectors Brett Alison, Leigh McPhan and Grahame Doswell trimmed the squad of 46 after the internal trial gave the youngsters one last chance to impress selectors.

The final 25 players and 5 emergencies will be named after the RAMS U16 side play Queensland
on June 14 in NSW.

The team of thirty is:
Dylan Addison (Bankstown), Matthew Bain (Albury), Ben Bartlett (Deniliquin), James Bennett (Belconnen) Damien Bowles (Meadowbank), Luke Bryce (Jerilderie), Adam Buttling (Penshurst), Ben Cantrall (Hornsby), Chris Casey (Deniliquin), Phillip Cross (Hawkesbury), Matthew Fife (Wagga), Trent Goodrem (Baulkham Hills), Joel Hartley (Albury), Matthew Hodge (Hunter region), Kieren Jack (Pennant Hills), Dylan Johns (Broken Hill), Justin Kahlefeldt (Wagga), Adam McConnochie (Wollongong region), Mark Neyland (Wagga), Adam Prior (Lavington), Ben Reid (Camden), David Ryan (Penshurst), Adam Sangston (Tuggeranong Hawks), Adam Spencer (Tuggeranong Hawks), Michael Stakelum (Belconnen), Michael Stapleton (Forest), Ryan Tutt (Tuggeranong Hawks), Nathan Twomey (Dubbo), Luke Walsh (Grong Grong), and Luke Webb (Wagga).

Nathan Twomey from Dubbo has been named in the squad - a great step forward for Central West footy.

Do you have a program or dates for the carnival might?
I might go have a look at a few games.

The U/18 championships used to be rotated between states didn't it? It only seems to be in Victoria now.

The TAC cup has taken over the old under 18 championships.

The under 16's carnival will be crawling with AFL scouts - its the only football development they're interested in. It's like the bluddy yearling sales!

Who said slavery was dead.

I also note with interest that players have been picked from Wollongong, the Hunter and Camden........... possibly part of Sydney these days, but proof that footy is spreading out like giant testicles ( in the words of Jack Dyer).

Good to see Trent Goodrem in the team:)
He's the brother of Delta Goodrem if you didnt know.
I played footy with Trent for a number of years, and he is a top notch player, who i believe will be drafted once he is old enough. (hopefully by the swans)
