3- Watson
2- Stanton
1- Dempsey
ryder and hille smashed in the ruck. Freo may have a finals team. If the midfield can step up to Sandi's dominance they will be hard to beat

Now that Sandilands has a good midfield to tap too, they are going to be a Top 8 side.
Oh, and if Sandilands gets somewhat proper ruck support as well

I dont think they are a finals team just yet. And Sandi play all minutes of all 22 games? dont think so. They also lack a KPF so we'll see how they go with that too.

I cant think of anyone. Ballantyne is the new Milne. A grade tip rat.
I'm just going to go with hocking tried, Dempsey tried, gumby tried, pears tried!!!
Can I give sandilands votes??? I'm glad we don't play freo twice this year if he plays like that all year he could win the Charlie!!!

Dempsey was good until he got booked.
Gumby was good in the second quarter.
Monfries tried all day
Overall that was a pathetic performance from 22 talented footballers against an average side.
Overall i am totally disgusted with the whole side for what amounted to a half arsed effort.
That was one of the worst efforts i have ever seen, and hopefully each and everyone of them realise that they disgraced themselves today and i hope they lift 110% for next week.
No one deserves a vote.

To be fair to him though *grits teeth* he was playing on a much bigger opponent all day.
I really think we missed Neagle

With the risk of derailing the thread I will keep it short. When are people actually going to stop paying attention to stats re. Stanton, he may get a few easy kicks and run around alot but thats it. Twice today I saw him dispose the ball(terribly) and have the chance to lay a shepard to redeam himself, only to run in the opposite direction and leave his team mate to be tackled. Very poor leadership, for what its worth he is'nt the only one who refuses to shepard it just shits me when people give Stanton votes for a few shitty kicks.

Freo still aren't a good team. And if they are playing good football, it's because they're using our old playbook. Harv's is not a gun coach, they might get to 8th or 9th this year, but it's still a lot better than where we're heading

Wow, you saw him do two poor things today. Did you happen to see the at least two poor things that every player did today? I saw on at least two occasions where he did put in the second and third efforts following up other players errors, but you were obviously too busy calling for his head on a pike to see those.
His disposal can be terrible, but he is still amongst our top 5 and will be a instant lock every week barring a complete fall in current trends and form.
3. Watson (Had a great game dispite the man mountain drastically reducing his effectiveness through the middle)
2. Hocking (Super impressed, took big steps the last two weeks)
1. Pears (Continues to look solid. If continues with his curve of improvement it's possible Fletch could be released as an even more attacking option when we're in a pickle and need a change)
Special mentions, Monfries (last two weeks has showed more hunger and determination then ever) Zaharakis (went quite after half time, but every week this kid shows he's got the footy skills, ball winning ability and general footy smarts to dominate in years to come), Dempsey (was more accountable until we were over run and improved on his disposal, decision making and drive from last week), Howlett (Looks like a great pick up for a mature rookie, slots in well and should hold his spot for quite a while)
Gosh - I must have been watching a different game or everyone has done their votes by stats only.
How could Watson get 3 votes
- Dempsey
- Monfries
- Hooker
like to know who demps man was today. Saw him caught outa position a couple times which annoyed me
Usually I'm watching Watson tear us a new one, but barely noticed him. What were his stats like?
Edit: 28 possessions...they must've been slick

Definitely would benefit by having a full pre season - remember he only arrived at the club in late December. Today coped a heavy knock just before half time and spent most of the second half in forward line when we weren't winning it.

Very disappointing result for the club as a whole..
3 - Dempsey, his dash off half back was very good, he was elusive enough and gave us some drive, still gets lost when the ball is turned over though, his battle with the new rat was entertaining.
2 - Hocking, IMO I still have serious doubts about his disposal, but he works hard and never gives up, something that some others could take note of today.
1 - Prismall, I think he is looking better with every game he plays, still waiting for that dominant ball winning performance from him though, but would rather pin my hopes on him that Stanton for it.
Honorable Mentions - Pears tried hard again, I can see a little bit of arrogance sneaking into his game though, hope he can keep it away. Fletcher as always battled hard, Zaharakis is going to be a star. Monfries presents beautifully, would like to see him push up into the midfield a bit more (R.O'Keefe), Watson tried but was outpointed, being smashed in the ruck didn't help that. Gumby, presented really well, another sign of improvement, will be a better player when he has Hurley and Neagle inside forward 50 to help out, but as the main target he was better this week.
Surprised to see Watson and Dempsey in the votes.
3) Pears - Did all that he could, despite his midfielders and some other defenders leaving him to the slaughter
2) Zaharakis
1) Hooker

Surprised to see Watson and Dempsey in the votes.
It's one of those games where it was extremely difficult to give votes, tbh - and I think that's why we're seeing so much variation among posters. Just to underline the point, I agree with you about Jobe but I disagree re Dempsey. I think if you asked Jobe, he'd probably be pretty dissatisfied personally about his game. He got a fair bit of the ball but seemed under pressure most of the day and wasn't as clean as normal. Dempsey, I thought, was really impressive. His dash off half back was excellent, thought he used the ball ok most of the time, he made space well, supported teammates with a number of good blocks and shepherds and there were a few deft touches from him that were excellent. And, just as importantly, he looked like he was actually having a red hot go - which is not what could be said for some others.
Worst on ground:
3) Williams
2) Davey
1) Prismall
Not sure how Prismall gets a guernsey here. There were plenty worse than him.
[part on Dempsey]I liked most of Dempsey's game, but his inability to run both ways, as well as turnovers, hurt us.
Having said that, he certainly wasn't alone, and his run was something we did -and will - need desperately. Not sure how Prismall gets a guernsey here. There were plenty worse than him.To be honest, I probably had it in for him after the 2nd quarter; in the space of one quarter, he made 2 or 3 horrible turnovers that were completely inexcusable.
I normally think he's OK, but I hated his game yesterday. For somebody whose strength is supposed to be his skill, he was poor yesterday. Too many turnovers, too soft, too unaccountable, and added nothing other than the goal he kicked late.
Not suggesting he be dropped, but he - along with Welsh, Winderlich and Dyson - need to really lift his game in the coming weeks. Houli, Myers & Melksham are waiting.

You have misunderstood Dempsey's strengths and weaknesses.
He has average skills but is usually a good decion maker.
One only has to look at his ability to weave out of congested situations.

3 - Pears
Did a terrific job on Pavlich and also set up plenty of drive in the first 3/4s when we were in the game. Pavlich's goals were from a kick in and in the last quarter, so an outstanding job on a superstar of the game.
2 - Dempsey
Responded to the criticism during the week and provided a much tighter performance. His calmness under pressure was constantly juxtaposed with the likes of Prismall, Slattery, Myers panicking and turning into trouble. A much better game and has now set the benchmark. Probably has the worst left foot in our side though.
1 - Monfries
Worked really hard all day and was the only player who was a consistent target up forward. He threw his body in and was prepared to get the hard ball.
I was also really impressed with Gumbleton in the first half. It's amazing what an early possession can do for confidence. If he keeps his body in shape he could really start making an impact on games in the second half of the season.
Watson was solid but had plenty of passengers along for the ride.
McPhee was classic.

Prismall is a concern for two reasons
1) Still doesn't have the stamina to run out games.
2) Doesnt hurt enough with his diposal.

Another player leading to the wrong spots. thought at this stage of his career he would know not to lead to dead flanks when the Dons had it in the middle. The finger is pointed at Monfries for derailing the team strategy.
