He was rushed to hospital last night with a blood infection. It's been reported on channel 9 and is in doubt for next Saturday. Big blow. :( :thumbsd:

In all seriousness I hope he recovers 100% and is fit and ready for a trip to Subiaco in round 4.

Sepsis is serious shit. Sounds like it's been caught early and treatment should be relatively easy, but still poor bloke, would feel absolutely terrible. All the best Spike.
The EFC Facebook is saying he's "expected to be available for Saturday's game against Carlton."

I hope we don't play him if he isn't ready.

If it is sepsis and he's in hospital any longer then over night then there is no way they will play him. Duty of care always comes first.

Yea I saw that during the game...he was favoring it...I thought his arm looked blue or purple after that bandage on his elbow to his wrist...almost like a dead arm..
Did he bring the injury/cut? into the game or did it happen at the game..?
OK, just read the link... There is nothing worse than a nasty infected cut... I don't reckon he will play next week....Your immune system gets screwed up and get zapped of energy...

if only she would let me...................
i don't think he'd be a big loss at all. he should have been dropped for his inept performance anyway. he thinks he's better than he is, talks himself up on the footy show and plays like a princess doing bugger all.
this bloke needs to earn a game - at present he isn't trying hard enough and getting enough of the ball for a midfielder. he was like this in 2009 so i'm not going off just one game either.
two weeks at bendigo for mine and if he plays well enough he can be in the mix for a recall for the anzac match

Mmm...and the selection door creaks open ever so slightly for Houli to walk in..
Yeah, hope Houli plays this week to be honest.

You do realise that he played out the game with a bacterial poison pumping through his body, right? Now add to this the physical strains that a high intensity sport causes on the body. He would have been exhausted very quickly, which could have reduced the resistance put up by his immune system, making it harder for his body to fight back and delay the onset of the infection and it's symptoms. As his body got weaker and the bacteria would have become more prevalent. Initially the limb the wound was on would have started to swell and his resting heart beat would have risen to 80-90 bpm, but since he was playing a game of football you could probably expect his resting rate to be well over 100. Next would be the early stages of a fever or hypothermia would start to take place, but running around would have masked the first signs of fever as the heat would be mistaken as being from playing the game. Depending on the type of bacteria the onset from the initial symptoms of swelling and fatigue can be very rapid.
Really he could have either been feeling perfect or maybe just a little tired before and the higher heart rated would have been passed off as nerves, to being completely knackered in the space of an hour or so. I was critical of his game but after finding this out it completely makes sense. I take all of my criticism back if the above scenario did take place quickly and during the game. Would have to be one very fit unit to run and put up with your body screaming at you to run out the game.

Spends too much time making sure he looks good rather than improving his football skills.

Well! if he was in the Epworth overnight , he would have been out the front door that fast the next morning and onto a tram, he'd be back at Windy Hill before the other guys can turn up.
