As reported on Channel 7 news Julian Burton has retired from SANFL football.

He told his fellow team mates at training last night when it was announced he'd be up for league selection this week.

He sighted his reasons as he now has other priorities now.

I'm not entirely surprised by this as the word was he was going to retire at the end of last year.

I wish him well in whatever he choses to do. Thank you for the memories!

He was showing some of his best form ever in recent weeks!

The mark he took was probably the only highlight of the day!

But, uh.... why?

Not because he would have to wear that special material for his burns at every game would it?

That sucks.

Why what?

Why did he retire? Well he was considering giving football away at the end of last year but after he sustained his injuries he decided to keep going.

After his accident he decided to see how he felt emotionally rather than physically after a few games. His heart is no longer in the game and he retired.

He has to constantly wear the special bandages because of his burns, so I can't see that being a reason.

Then he would be continuing his role on the ABC's SANFL coverage? Hope so.

He seems to be quite interested in doing so.

Best of Luck to the Juicer.

Shame he can't play one last SANFL league game to say goodbye

Where has the emotion gone in Footy?

Congrats on your good service to the sturt footy club through some of their dark periods Juica. Shame you did not get to wear a premiership medallion.

You had more brains than most...............leaving the port magpies footy club, and labelling them so correctly.

I would have loved for him to play one last league game to say goodbye.

I think the emotion of it all would be too much for him. Pity we could have used him this week! :(

You sir, are an idiot. He left because he wasn't good enough to get a game and so went to a struggling club and ended up being a very fine servant for them. Seems a strange decision to retire at this time as from all reports he was close to getting a league game, why wouldn't give it one last shot, you're a long time out of the game. Good luck to him though.

Btw, while off track in this thread, are you not talking about the Mapies v Eagles game, too busy trying to Port-bash as usual.
