He has got to be one of the most unlucky guys in the AFL. His form in SANFL has been sensational but once he gets into the Port side he doesn't get much game time and is dropped the following week.

Assuming that he wants greater opportunities, if he decides to leave at the end of the year what would you be expecting in return in terms of players and/or draft picks??????

*blink*

Do you mean Brent Guerra?

Something good. It occurs to me that he's the sort of strongly-built player that teams like the Bulldogs need.

Yes it is. I just realised I made a mistake. Was going to PM you to delete the thread or change the title to Brent Guerra.;)

Something good?????? Elaborate. First round pick??????

You can actually change the title yourself i think.

Yeah he is unlucky. I think in about a years time he will be a permanent member of our starting 18, with the retirements of Hardwick, Monty and CCC opening a space either down back or up forward for him to cement himself in the side.

I do believe he will head back at the end of the year...which will suck because hes one of my favourite 2 players.

Wondered what was going on here.
I don't think Brent Guerra feels he is not going to get his opportunity. He was in the 1999 draft where Toby Thurstans, who only debuted this year, was in the 1998 draft. Brent has played 57 games, albeit that is probably something like 40 hours of football in his case.
But he knows he will always be called on to fill a gap, and a few players are aging, which will open up a permanent spot for him soon.

I don't see that happening........as much as his chances have been limited he's still very young (turns 21 in 7 days) and will be a long term regular within a year or two at the max. It's more a matter of where he sees himself having the best opportunities and success in the future.

He is highly regarded by the club and coaching staff even if that doesn't appear to be the case from the outside.

There is an upside to all this.
Having played so few minutes in his first 50 or so games may actually prolong his career. As DK mentioned he is still very young.

That's because Pickett needs to find form.
A bit like Macca19 not being allowed to pick Port in important games. :D
