Great news for those interstate. (And with Foxtel) Fox Footy will show the state match on June 21 between SA and WA LIVE starting at 4:00pm EST. (except in WA and SA where I assume the ABC will telecast) Personally I think the game is a farce But HEY it is LIVE grass-roots footy.

Without wanting to sound personal, no inter-league state match, or any inter-league match for that matter, is a farce.

Just because its not the f*cking AFL, doesn't mean its a waste to local league fans, the players themselves, or upcoming juniors.

Although being a Qlder, I - along with 6 or 8 others - will be glued to this match at my house on the 21st ..... never enough "real" footy as it is !!! :)

I hope by that it means that the actual Fox Footy Channel is showing the game and not Fox Footy Extra which is different in each state.

Yes great comeback ********

Reasons ?????? Or you just like abusing people outright for no reason at all !!!!!

3 reasons why I think the game is a farce.
1. Because half of the players are not even SA born and bred. How would the likes of Robran, Williams, Kerley, Bradley etc. feel about Victorians wearing the traditional state jumper.

2. State Football is dead and has been for some time. Most of the players and clubs try to convince their players to skip it. How would you feel if a star player at your club was seriously injured in this mickey- mouse game which threatened his career (calling Tony Hall)

3. Its bad enough each club having 3 byes. That 3 weeks in the year I dont get to see (or hear in my case) my club play. Now its 4 weeks of the year.

Mud n blood

I dont particularly care for AFL either. The fact that I logon each week to LIFE-FM and listen to the broadcast (no matter who is playing) means that I do prefer local footy over AFL. I just dont like these state games. Like I said, its another week my footy club doesnt play and I dont like it.

If that makes me a ****er then so be it.

Dreamkillers - The coverage will be on the Footy Extra channel. But it will be shown on footy Extra Vic, NSW, Qld. SA and WA will get a delayed coverage due to the ABC live coverage

1. Thats why its a state game not a state of Origin game!

2. I cant speak for SA but the WAFL take it seriously!

1. Probably repeating what Balip said, but that is why it is called a State League match, not State of Origin. It's a league against another league.

2. State footy has only died at AFL level. The AFL was the reason State of Origin died, but at State League level it is far from dead. And another battle against the VFL is probably due for next year in Melbourne!

3. Have no reponse to that.

and besides... it is the only game of professional SA & WA football being played for the weekend and that is good enough for me!

I will also be undertaking the trip to Fremantle for the game... see you Sandgropers soon!

I think people forget that for almost 100 years prior to 1977 State League v State League footy was played.
Many players from different states represented different states (Blight and Farmer for Vic comes to mind).
I think too many people are influenced by the media and afl and think that SoO is true State Footy.
How wrong they are.

Fair call guys, I guess the MAIN reason I dont like it is I dont get to see (or hear) my team play for another week. (It would be worse though having the bye before or after the state game ) Its a good move though showing it live on fox Footy as there is no AFL that weekend either. Should be maximum viewing. And for what its worth I WILL be watching it. Its LIVE footy, I dont care who is playing. I would just rather be tuning in to LIFE-FM listening to an SANFL broadcast.

Are you going to take a sign reading something like "G'day Bigfooty Croweaters"?

We could have a drinking game at the Rosemont: every time RA gets his mug on-screen, everyone has to skoll what's left in the glass in front of them :D

From the pictures that I have seen of Fremantle Oval, it is sort of like Alberton Oval. Don't think that you will need tickets though.

I think if the W.A. boys ask nicely, they may used the Dockers facilities. The S.A. boys will use the "visitors" facilities which the South Freo Footy Club should put at their disposal.

At the ground you can sit pretty well where ever you like. The ground will be great for this game, Subi would have no athmosphere if played there.

Its a lot like Adelaide Oval and State matches.... much better played there than at AAMI Stadium.

Looking forward to the game. See you all Sandgroper-supporters soon.
