View Full Version : Matrix Revolution=Star Wars 3=Lord Of The Rings- Return Of the King????
Which of these 3 movies do you predict to break all box office records and which will be the best?
None of them will break box-office records. They will make similar amounts of money to what their predecessors did. Fellowship and Two Towers both made "roughly" the same amount of money. If Reloaded makes 350-400 million, then I'm sure Revolutions will be about the same. I know George Lucas has always felt that Episode III being, the darkest will not make as much money as the other 5 films, even though it may very well be the best.

Considering the records currently owned by Titanic (highest grossing film of all time) and Spider-man (highest opening weekend IIRC), only the latter is in any danger. I cannot see anything catching Titanic for a long, long time. ROTK may get close to Spidey, but realistically any of those 3, given enough hype (especially about tying off storylines) can get it.

I was under the impression that, adjusted for inflation, Star Wars Ep1: A New Hope was:confused: Any figures anywhere, I think Dan26 did a post on this a while back.

These are the top grossing movies of all-time adjusted for inflation. The figures are American figures only, but the placings wouldn't change much if you add the worldwide totals. It is almost impossible to have a worldwide total adjusted for inflation, because there are hundreds of different countries with different dollar values. Adjusted value are in 2002 dollars. Original Gross includes re-releases and is adjusted according to how much it made in the years it was re-released. eg The original Star Wars in 1997, and the various Disney films which have been re-released many times.

All 3 will make massive amounts of money at the box office but Titanic's gross is out of reach. Spidey's opening weekend might be broken but that is also only a 50/50 shot.
All 3 end their respective saga's so they will all generate extreme amounts of interest. SW3 may suffer due to the bad guys winning, nobody wants to see that so only hard core fans will return for repeat viewing IMO.
Im most looking forward to SW3 because SW rules all but ROTK and Revolutions both will be freaking awesome!
i dont really care witch one brings in more
i cant wait to see them :D
Personally I think LOTR:ROTK will blitz M:Revolutions and SW3. It is the only 1 that will come close to blitzing Spidermans record. It will also depend on how many cinemas each movie opens in. I wonder on how many Spiderman opened in?
Anyway ROTK will bring to a close everything about LOTR and people will be hanging out for it whether they are fanatics or casual viewers. Most people have seen the start of the story and will want to know how it concludes.
ROTK will be the most spectacular and emotional of all the series. The action scenes will make the brillant Helms Deep battle in TTT seem like a McDonalds birthday party (no doubt Peter Jackson will tone scenes down for a audience friendly version, because the book does get very graphic). There will also be so many emotions flowing from scary haunting scenes to feeling like jumping for joy to scenes of total suprise and shock to scenes of sadness. This final chapter in this epic has it all... and not just the token emotional scene.
I think ROTK will become only the 2nd movie to break the $1 Billion mark but still wont get anywhere near Titanic.
