Is This Desire? - PJ Harvey
and
So Tonight That I Might See - Mazzy Star
Also, not that anyone has mentioned it here, but.. what is all the fuss about Rush of Blood to the Head?
It only has three of four decent songs on it, in my opinion Parachutes was heaps better.

Been a pretty disappointing year for CD's so far.
On high rotation are Elephant by the White Stripes and So Long Astoria by the Ataris.
The Essential Heart - Heart (Obviously)
36 excellent songs, plus "All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You".
Disc 1 is full of all their earlier rockier tunes like "Crazy On You", "Magic Man", "Even It Up" and "Barracuda" (Rolling Stones Magazines pick for greatest riff written by a Female - sometiome in the late 80's). Asa kid I loved listening to Ann's vocals (screaming) over the wall of guitar and sythesizer noise.
Disc 2 is the mellower eighties love ballads, which aren't that bad, are better than most from that period solely because of the great vocals of Ann and Nancy.
Their version of "Your're the Voice" (a live version) is a million times better than Farnham's.

Icehouse - Man of Colours
Heard some fantastic remixes of some of their old stuff which has inspired me to wipe the dust off this and relive the glory of the first cassette I bought ever
The remixes are:
Don't Believe Anymore (Ivan and Colins Cafe Latte mix)
and
Man of Colours (Endorphin mix)
If you like more 'chilled' music check them out

I've got that Hendrix Album, awsome stuff.......more people should get a listen to what this guy did. He put something into music that most people don't. Much better than all that so called "rnb" tripe that is played on radio today.
Sparta - Wiretap Scars
The Jayhawks - Smile
Nada Surf - Let go

The Whitlams have done a cover of "Don't Believe Anymore". It's sickening.
"Man of Colours" was a huge album in its day, had five or six singles come off it, and some of the best commercial pop/rock Australia has produced.

Bragg - what's Nada Surf like? I have their old album, patchy but not bad.
I'd like to add American Hi-fi's new album, very good.

The Whitlams should be taken out and shot. They are one of the most annoying bands of all time.

Middle aged angst? - (as opposed to teenage angst)
Politically motivated music gives me the ****s especially when the group don't actually do anything other than sing about what annoys them. 'Mr 'Whitlam' is merely a whinger because he can sing or write songs. (excuse the rant).Or will anyone refute me on this?

The Beach Boys - 'Sunflower/Surf's Up'
A pair of albums from 1970/71 that are badly underrated. Especially 'Sunflower'. Nice to spend a little time re-discovering them. :D
Oh and if you like that 'Feel Flows' song from 'Almost Famous' you'll find it on the Surf's Up album. :)
