View Full Version : Mark 1 Eddie 0
I would like to congratulate Mark Williams, as last night he made Eddie look like an absolute tool when the issue of home and away strips became the topic of conversation after the game.
It is Port's home game next week and they are entitled to wear their home guernsey. It is time that the Traditional Victorian clubs joined the AFL and accept that the competition is no longer the VFL. You only need to look at the top eight to see that.

I don't care if the `traditional' clubs accept it or not, I want the AFL to make them do something about it.
When Eddie's mates suggest he is offline then it shows that he is on a limb by himself. So maybe the commission might find the balls to tell him what to do for a change.

AFL Balls?
Only on the football field.
Port should do everyone a favour by amending it's club consitution to state we must wear only black and white. Then the AFL either steps in and legally forces us to change - in which case they can then force Collingwood, Essendon and other clubs that don't want to change or we win and we **** Collingwood off. It's a win-win. :D Blaze the trail Port.

And wasn't it great to see Dermie and co sink the boots into Eddie as well.........he didn't look like a happy boy by the end of the broadcast and will be interesting to see his moaning on the issue during the week - I doubt there will be many backing his stance on the issue.
Has anyone got a video of that? I turned the telly off after the game and missed it. I'd love to see Eddie squirm.

Too right, and we havent heard the last off it. Seen it on the channel 10 comedy show saturday night. Eddie is one unhappy camper. And what can he say to Mark? After all he was a Collingwood captain, how eddie would dream to be able to play for Collingwood. Keep Dreaming Eddie Loser

Isn't it "in the pipeline" to be done either next year or the year after. It'll happen eventually, why dont some of the slower moving Melbourne clubs get with the times?
I liked Marks' example that Arsenal and Manchester United were both prepared to change their strip where necessary. What about going a bit further and pointing out that three black and white striped teams in Europe - Juventus, Newcastle United and Udinese are all prepared to change their strip where their is a clash.

Even Leigh Matthews got stuck into Eddie, looks like the mud might be starting to stick!
So far an ex-captain and and ex-premiership coach, who'll be next?
Btw what's eddie ever done on the footy field? Nothing!
Who like eddie besides collingwood fans? Nobody!

And after that footage of Collingwood wearing a mainly white change strip against Swan Districts in 1982 his protestations of "we never change" are looking all the more flimsy.
It's only a matter of time before the AFL force the change upon him or the humiliating backdown comes from Eddie.
Either way both of these options should make good viewing. :D

And on the 'we never change' thing... I'd swear I've seen Collingwood actually play in those guernseys that are black at the top, then have a magpie going across the chest and then black and white stripes underneath...
Plus I think the thickness, pattern, and number of stripes has changed over the years... if you want to be so pedantic, that is.(hmmph).

Yeah, it was indeed quite amusing DK. It was funny when they suggested that they needed to walk 20 metres behind him for fear of getting physically harmed. If I was them I would just chuck him out of the commentary box at half time a capture what happens to him on camera:p
