Gumbleton playing in front of a home crowd and Hurley returning. Some promise for the future. :) Now enough talk about promise and potential, let's bring home the 4 points!

I actually prefer Gurley, but Hurbleton has more chance of catching on.

I 'made' this earlier today when I was changing my sig:

But seriously, cannot wait.

And on the 8th day God created Michael Hurley and Scott Gumbleton. He said these two will dominate the forward for the essendon football club for many years to come. So it was done. Adam saw how dominant these two players were together and said they shall be called Hurbleton for it is made up of Michael Hurley and Scott Gumbleton. Such was the fear of the devil of this dominant forward line he did what he could to injury and put them through hell to stop them playing, but these two players were blessed and could not be kept quiet.

Can i get an AMEN!!!

Gumley

I watched the Bendigo game highlights on Bomber TV. The highlights of Hurley were sensational, he is so much better than VFL level its not funny. I'm excited to have this kid back in the side. Will be even better once this taxi court case thing goes away.

Seriously, in 3 years time opposition sides are going to despair over how to handle a forward line containing both Riewoldt & Brown clones

****ing excited to see them both in the same side!

Amazingly, one has played ten games, the other eight.

Don't think Essendon would have had such excitement about two players as inexperienced as these before...

Well actually it is meant to be a holy trinity.

At the moment the son has been crucified (of his own doing) but we wait in hope that he will rise again.

Gumbleton + Hurley in the one side and both up and running has me as excitied as I have even been about football.

Amazing how it only took 2 years to go from Michael-Fletcher-Lucas-Lloyd to Pears-Hooker-Gumbleton-Hurley.

If we can transform our midfield to the same extent we'll be laughing in 2012. :D

Two top 5 draft pick KPP forwards playing together is certainly exciting, the only other team in the competition who can boast that is Hawthorn (Franklin & Roughead), and obviously our boys have a long way to go before they get close to those two.

As long as we don't all expect miracles on Friday Night with these two and the usual pedantic overreactions whenever some of our supporters unrealistic expectations aren't met. It's going to take time and probably a fair bit of it before we see the full results. I'm expecting solid contributions from both but it's unrealistic that they are going to terrorise teams just yet this early on...

I think some forget that Hurley is only 19 and Gumbleton still only 21 (having missed two seasons of football)... lots of things need to happen first before these two form a cohesive forward duo and Friday Night is only the initial starting block...

Couldn't agree more...what gets me excited is watching them do the littles things now that show that one day, given time, they'll will be a sensational forward line combination. Fingers crossed we see some signs on Friday night.

Dont think Ive been this excited for us taking on the eagles in subi.. just better come away with the 4pts or else might have to find a cliff to jump off from.

Roo, Kosi and Gardiner (who is replacing Roo up forward it seems).

Fremantle also have Pavlich and Headland (who isn't really a KPP).

Humbleton?

That was going to be my suggestion given what transpired in the off season.

Ive been looking forward to this day for a very long time.

Just some thoughts on the setup, I see Gumbleton as more of a Brown type player without the power. Leads up the ground and goes through packs which a Nick Riewoldt and to less extent Pavlich in his CHF hayday didnt/dont do.

What do you guys think will happen to him when he puts some more muscle on? Will it effect his game ie: Will he be able to contianually lead at pace and take big grabs such as the one last Saturday?

Hurley more of the Barry Hall type forward leading into space as well as good one on one. Dont see him running through packs anywhere near as much as Gumby.

Hurley lining up at FF and Gumbleton at CHF with Willo in the forward pocket would be the way i would set it up. Winderlich running off one of the Flanks and Reimers off the other with Zaka in the other forward pocket.

Zaka - Hurley - Willo
Winders - Gumby - Reimers.

Thoughts?

Only one problem you forgot our best and most consistent small forward Monfries. I'd push winders up to the wing and put Monfries in his position.

So it'll look something like this:
CHF. Reimers Gumbleton Zaharakis
FF. Monfries Hurley Williams :thumbsu::D

I was thinking about this week though. When Monfries comes back then Winders would be moving to the wing obviously.

Funny, I see it the other way around tbh. Gumby seems like he could become the Reiwoldt type of player (or even Richo) - whereas Hurley looks like the JB type, with a bigger body he'd certainly have that "umph" that Browny has. Already got the kicking down to a T.
