Good win by the guys especially the U19s. 20 goal wins don't come along to often, especially for a team that was struggling for numbers in February.

It looks to be a fairly competitive division, with not much between the teams from positions 2 to 6.

Reds seniors moved to second on the table with a strong win over West Brunswick at home. Joey and Jezza starred up forward while the Reds backline was tighter than your proverbial (insert reference of your choice here).

The twos also had a convincing win, and despite their better win/loss record (6-1) are sitting in third place.

The under-19s had a big win, with Kane bagging 14 goals. Dare I say it, but the kid may have 'potential'.

Yet to hear a result on the clubbies.

All set for a big game back at home this week against Old Geelong.

Another good win to the Redders on Saturday. Not the prettiest of matches to watch, but 4 points is 4 points no matter how you get them. I was standing behind the goals at the Pavillion end of the ground with the "Sly Grog" squad. For mine, standouts were:
Joey T's dominance in the goal square
Jezza's arrogance across the half forward line
JB carving 'em up down back
Steve Drury's dozen marks across half back
Litza's kickouts from full back (what a sight to behold!)

Bring on next Saturday's match against an improving Old geelong outfit.

You're too kind ...

Apologies for omitting JB/Drury in my initial wrap up - although they were part of the backline I spoke so fondly of.

looking forward to turning it on and singing the song to the hill again next Saturday!

Chonk On!

BTW the ladder I present on Sunday mornings is a ladder I'm personally updating, its not the official VAFA one and it is possible that I my make human errors. So it should be right, but if pain persists, see the VAFA (http://www.vafa.asn.au).

Looks like the scores given by the Herald-Sun were wrong, actual result as follows :

D2 SECTION

WEST BRUNSWICK 1.3 5.4 7.7 8.10 (58)
FITZROY REDS 2.2 5.4 9.7 11.9 (75)
West Brunswick: Sheedy 4, Drain 3, McGuire. Best: Drain, Ward, West, Emmerson, Bagnall, Bailey.

Fitzroy Reds: Tornese 7, J.Parsons, Lee, Murphy, Atherton. Best: Rawlins, Reeves, Murphy, Meighen, Bennie, Little.
Umpires: Michael Sneddon (on rotation – from A) (F) Dennis Webster Lucas Williams (G)

Apparently Joey T kicked 7.0 .... PLUGGAH!

Ok ... for some reason I had incorrectly listed the score correctly in the first place ... I have no idea.

Mappa visits here, Ataata, and no-one can tell you how good Mappa is, than Mappa himself!

Stay tuned, I hear he's big raps for himself.

Mobs, I'm a bit confused. Are the Reds playing Old Geelong at the Brunswick St Oval this weekend? I have a half day off work and would love to attend. If it IS on there, where does everyone stand, or will that become self-evident when I arrive? Is it kosher to wear my Brisbane Lions scarf? Unfortunately, I've lost my Fitzroy gear over about ten house moves.

Yes the Reds play Old Geelong at Brunswick st this weekend, saturday with ressies and seniors at the usual times (seniors at 2pm).

There's always a fair crowd around and in the grandstand, but I and FitzroyRamone and Slax etc have been standing this year with a bunch of other blokes we knew from Fitzroy, down behind the goals at the Brunswick St end, northern pocket. It'd be great to make your acquaintance!

I don't have a problem with anyone wearing Brissy gear, you always see a couple there wearing it, though one of the blokes who stands with us will give you a serve :)

I'll be there about 1.30 Mobs. I too look forward to it. Ah, suburban footy. Haven't been to an ammos game since about 1968, when I saw my school's old boys win a flag, at Elsternwick Park, for the umpteenth time. Old Paradians, in case you ask.

I thought you'd do that automatically. No, of course not. That would make you an autodidact. You're a bunny fugger. I presume you'll have a Fizzroy jumper on. I'll be wearing a two-tone light grey and blue/grey jumper, black trousers and black shoes. I'll have a Brizzie Lions scarf.

I have to admit you sent me to the dictionary for that one.

Yeah I'll have an old unwashed Fitzroy guernsey on, and a Roys scarf too, probably tied around waist.

If you're interested, we're meeting at the Lord Newry at around 12.30ish if you want to catch FitzroyRamone and I there.

Should be a great day!

Going down to visit my brother. I had to pick a weekend before mid-September and I'd rather do it now than late July.

Ataata39 !!

I think I speak for half the 2's team who would be mighty displeased a player like Mappa (allow me to speak in the 3rd person) is getting a game in the 1's ahead of them !!!!
