I think this is the right call. This way the little man Coyler will get another good crack at it in his home town

Very informative article ... wonder why it didn't say that Stanton won't be making the trip to Perth either?

My mail is he's out. The old "Perth is too far away" virus.
Gumby didn't train in Melbourne today, either.
Odds are good he travelled over earlier, though.

Bugger - my first week of dreamteam ever and one of my star midfielders is out!
I have Melksham on the bench though.
Do I trade Stanton for another similar player or just put ShamWow in the team?

If it's your first week you can make as many trades as you want without penalty

Yeah that's why I'm wondering if I bench him and bring in Melksham, or trade him for a similar priced player.

Do you think Stants is actually injured, or just a small case of "being dropped"? Posters down on EFC.com.au seem to think its a cover up and he's actaully been dropped, I can't see why they would do that, surley its a real injury?
No way was Stanton dropped.
He hurt his quad (or hamstring, can't remember which one right now) against Fremantle; I actually didn't think he'd play against Carlton, so perhaps he's just aggrevated that.
Seems to be a back injury for Stants.
I guess what that means is that Hocking and Melksham will be in the guts.

Out of contract at the end of this season
Good decision. McVeigh could use another week to rest up and recover rather than travel after that stint in hospital, to ensure that he's in top condition for ANZAC Day. It'll also be good to give the new players another opportunity to have a crack at it and continue proving their worth.

Can somebody please tell me the last time McVeigh actually played against collingwood because i cant remember the last time he played because recently hes either been suspended or injured.

Round 16 2007. He also played Anzac Day 2007. Missed both games in 2008 and 2009.

Good decision. :thumbsu:
Should've left Mcveigh in 2009.

There's your problem...
I read somewhere that Prismall would be left behind as well ... so I'm guessing he's a last minute call up as an emergency since Essendon were waiting until the last minute to make a decision on Stanton.
Just a question for everyone.
Do you think the game has past McVeigh??
I really like Macca as a player (fierce competitor), but he just has no impact on games any more. Injuries haven't helped his cause either.
But with younger, faster more exciting players coming into the side, how much longer will he be in the 22??
McVeigh and Welsh are probably lock ins for our side this year since they're senior players but if they don't capture there old form I can see them both being traded/delisted.
