Next week in the Ballarat Football League, I will be umpiring my 200th match, which unfortunately is an U/18.5 game. I have Ballarat vs Bacchus Marsh. I am not sure of the venue, but will tell you where it is on Thursday.

They can move it if they wish or Mobbs can put it as a sticky topic on here.

I am glad it is in Ballarat as well because the Bacchus Marsh oval had a really foul smell last week.
This to me is just another example of umpires trying to be more than the players.

Hurrah, Suzi. I hope you do well... If you make it into The Courier, be sure to send it into the Big Footy Members photo page. I'm sure some people would love to see it.

Quite an achievement - 200 games. Well done for sticking with it. I know it's hard, but it is inbuilt culture for supporters to blame those in charge of the game for the outcomes, umpiring can't be an easy job!

I have worked really hard to get to the 200 game milestone in umpiring. Not many people have gotten there.
Just on thanking people I have prepared a big list of people who I will be thanking tomorrow night. I am not sure if it will be in the paper, but if it is I will make a special mention of you guys.

That would certainly be the first time an umpire has ever thanked me!

Good onyer Suzi. 200 games is a great effort.
What sort of umpire are you? ( Field, boundary or goal?)
Does this have to be a sticky??? im sure there would be 100s of BF members who have played or coached or umpired 200 games of football, why dont we do a sticky for everyone of them???? this is quite silly considering that the same thread could be made a 100 times over for anyone else on the board
Oh but my congrats to Suzi its quite a milestone you have achieved 200 games of umpiring and will mark it with a under 18s game starting at 10am in frosty ballarat, its quite a achievmant and 1 that all BF members should be proud of, its also good to see that you have gone far in umpiring breaking through the levels and reaching the under 18.5 level of the ballarat football league ;) well done once again,
why would you bother??? thats my personal opinion
pathetic lmfao

I reckon its an achievement, whatever the level, and worth a moment's exposure.
Well I know we've had our moments Suzi, on both here and BomberTalk, but, I guess I really should give you a big pat on the back for your 200th game..well done and well earned.

pathetic lmfao That's a bit harsh Tige19. Grassroots footy is full of people who will never make big money, will never play at AFL level, but who do it for love of the game.
But the AFL have no idea. That turnstyle ad on Fox Footy to promote Grassroots Footy Day is an embarrasment. After seeing that ad, I'd rather go to a grassroots game than an AFL game. But before doing either I'd need to cringe in shock at such an incompetent ad and the damage it does to the image of football.

HA! Well said, Tige19!! I said on another thread that I will NOT be going because I refuse to line the pockets of AFL clubs - which is what I would be doing. And I'm POed about it because I wanted to see a VCFL championship semi final and both the Division 2's are way out of the way (Hamilton and Kerang). Now I'll have to look for a club game and there aren't many around on Saturday! I know Ballarat has a full round, but they'll be on Monday because of the interleague on Saturday.
On the subject of this thread, yep 200 games is pretty good. But you have a long way to go to catch me, Suzi.
