View Full Version : NSW bashers where are you?
Shit it's quiet in here?
Hows this for some numbers from yesterday's one-dayer...
N.S.Welshmen
M.Waugh 51, Bevan 17, S.Waugh 29, Bracken 9 overs 1-30, McGrath 6 overs 1-7
Victorians
Warne 10 overs 0-38, Harvey 9 overs 1-55
Still arguing who deserves to be there and who doesn't? Manipulate those stats if you can!

Darky, dont worry Bubba can make any figures look good, firstly Warnie's first two overs looked like he was a bit nervous but his next eight were superb, unlucky not to get 3 or 4 wickets, bowled at a time when the WI were looking to accelerate but couldnt, ended up with very good economy rate especially considering his first two overs, DONT WORRY WARNIE IS BACK! As for Bracken, looked ok, first wicket was a lucky one, still didnt match Flemings 3-18 against same opposition two days earlier! As for Harvey, he dismissed Lara, WI only chance of victory, thats doing his part. Besides i made a ton in local cricket not so long ago i reckon i could make runs against those Windies, they couldnt catch me anyway!

Bevan 17, S.Waugh 29,
Only a NSW apologist would consider these to be good numbers!
Man of the Match -Ricky Ponting TASMANIA
Best Bowler - Andrew Symonds QUEENSLAND
Lara's Wicket -Ian Harvey VICTORIA
3rd best player -Damian Martyn WEST AUSTRALIA.
Gee,where would the Aussies be without the NSW players.
I doubt Bracken would be bragging he got Sherwin Campbell out.
Even Scott Muller could get Campbell out .

Well said JUBSTER, one day well have the pleasure of seeing the best players from around Australia playing at the top level because of their form and not because they come from NSW

From 22 and 33 balls respectively.
Good solid contributions even if they're not 50s.
As for the bowlers... Warne could've should've got X amount of wickets.
WELL HE DIDN'T ...
ended up with good economy even considering his first two overs. CONSIDERING THEY WERE CRAP?
Warne's economy at 3.8 rpo was good, but Bracken's at 3.3 and McGrath's at 1.17 was even better. Funny how you neglect those Bubba.
What it boils down to is two NSW bowlers 15 overs 2-37, two Vic bowlers 19 overs 1-93 - no could'ves would'ves maybes or anything about those numbers.
Am I a NSW apologist...no.
Am I a Vic-basher...no.
I was merely pointing out that the anti-NSW bias on this board, mainly from Victorians, wasn't justified when you compare the two states' respresentatives' performances yesterday.

Point taken Darky but one game does not make a summer, lets judge Warnies contribution by the end of the series.

I agree 100% Bubba, lets judge it at the end of the series.
My point all along was that we should also do that with Bracken, rather than judging him before he'd played his first game.
Btw, I have no doubt Warne will get at least 12 wickets if he plays all 8 games, and he will probably get more wickets than Bracken - I never criticised Warne's contribution as such, I just said that the anti-NSW bias wasn't justified.

Fleming is alot better then Bracken and he will take his spot after the 1st 4 matches wait and see!
Mags
Considering bloody nsw players make up 3/4 of the team you should expect them to do something.

Be a good little boy and scroll up.
As I pointed out all 5 NSW players contributed something, although Bevan's contribution is debatable I admit.
The two Victorians contributed very little.
So what the hell is your point?

Here's my suggestion to stop the whinging of Queenslanders like myself about our
players not being selected.
* Promote the entire NSW team to the Australian Team
* abolish selections of non NSW players
* let other states have their best player play for australia A (rest of squad
made up by promising Bankstown 1st graders)
* promote the Bankstown Club to play in the Pura Milk Cup against all of us
lesser states......
* Glenn McGrath to coach all non NSW Aust A players on how to lose graciously

Anyway, that's what I reckon ........
