Give those shoulders a rest this week, they won't need it on the weekend.

Wish I could be there :D

To think it has been practically 10 years since the very first jacket wave.

Memories.....

I get all teary eyed when I think that in 100 years Essendon and West Coast will still be doing it, and there will be all these conflicting stories on how the tradition started.

Favourite jacket waving moment?

Would have to be the first time the crowd ever did it at Subi.

On such small things traditions rise. I'm not Sheedy's biggest ever fan, but for that wave of the jacket in a close Essendon win, thanks. Created the first real rivalry between a Melbourne team and a non-Vic team, and entirely by accident. May it go on forever.

(Still remember a bunch of Richmond fans trying to get in on the act once - they failed miserably)

Remember the same thing Mr Q...it was after Richmond beat us in the 1995 semi-final, lead by John Northey..and yes it failed horribly!!!

Only ever got to do it once, during the qualifying final last year, but I tell you what, it was fkn fun! :D

Wish I could be there this week! Although somehow I don't think it'd be worth the trip and time spent to watch it...don't have a good feeling! :( :p

No excuses - I'm travelling all the way from Perth for this game, and I booked a ticket before we'd even won an away game this year :).

Mantis, at Essendon every game is important, not just Anzac day.

I am guessing you have been in your element this year, with our poor results, you have been able to abuse our players heaps.

OOPS left out Sheeds, bet you are having a field day with him.

Stop blubbing woman.
Mantis there are only two players i have concerns over, S.Alessio and M.Bolton, I have seen more Essendon games than youv`e had hot dinners. I have raised sheedys penchant for saying strange things if this is having a field day then so be it.
Why would I be in my element with Essendon`s poor results ??.." you have been able to abuse our players heaps"...idiocy at it`s best, drug taking at it`s finest, you really are struggling girl

Wouldn't bet on that, I am older than you & even though I live here now, I am guessing I saw more games than you, before you were even born.

Baby, my first game was in July `69 as a babe in arms, not a bad baptism if you ak me.My first membership was in my sky rocket at the start of 1973 and i have missed four games since 1973. I have had opportunity`s to leave the state ( work related) and knocked them back with only Essendon in mind, could not do it.

If you say so Mantis. Keep believing that.... I'm just happy that I'm finally going to get to see the Eagles play an away match (that isn't against the Dockers) after 11 years as a member. If I'm going to go to Melbourne to watch a match it might as well be against our biggest Victorian rivals.

Mr Q, I am sorry that my reply to you got turned into an in house spat, I was just having a joke with you, I have been on the long flight home, after I went to Melbourne to see us play & we lost.

Enjoy the time there, win or lose, it will be a great experience for you.

By the way, leave your scarf home, you won't be needing it. :D

In proper English Grammar, yes, "I" does usually refer to "me"....

:D That was a joke....

We are not kocky, we are just happy to see things going the right way again.

When you're 7-2 after nine rounds, its not unrealistic to start thinking top four. Hell the Pie boys over on the main board are still thinking top four for them. We're well tame compared to that lot.

It's a fantastic tradition and the only bummer about the weekend is that we will only pockets of jacket and scarf waving because the crowd will be mainly pro Essendon. Now that the Eagles are back, I cant wait to play Essendon at Subi and get 40,000 jacket and scarf wavers going!

Im worried about the weekend though....5 in a row....law of averages and all that.
