Some doubt over Hardwick

http://portadelaidefc.com.au/cp2/c2/webi/article/094587aj.jpg

Damien Hardwick could miss the Power’s blockbuster clash with Collingwood on Friday night at AAMI Stadium. The veteran defender emerged from the Power’s win over Essendon with a corked thigh and missed training on Monday at Alberton Oval.

Hardwick was listed by the Power as a ‘test’ in its regular injury list released on Monday and will be monitored through the week.

The Essendon premiership player and All Australian didn’t come back onto the ground after copping the knock in a heavy clash in the second quarter of Friday night’s game.

Matthew Primus is still four or five weeks away from resuming from a hamstring injury. The Power captain has played just four matches so far this year and will not play again until after the mid-season break, which comes between Rounds 11 and 12. He last played in Round 7 against Melbourne at the MCG.

The Power will also be without forward Chad Cornes who will miss the second of his two-game suspension this week.

The Power’s injury list as at Monday 26 May, is as follows:

Cain Ackland (osteitis pubis) – ongoing assessment
Chad Cornes (suspended) – 1 week
Stuart Dew (osteitis pubis) – ongoing assessment
Josh Francou (knee) – season
Damien Hardwick (corked thigh) – test
Matthew Primus (hamstring) – 4-5 weeks

I would think he will start in the reserves at the Magpies and it will be interesting to see how long it takes him to make the league side.

How many minutes do you think Ackland will see when back in the Magpie seniors with the likes of Poole and Parry?

From what I heard - and bearing in mind it's friend of a friend stuff - Ackland was going to start on the bench in the league side relieving Parry in the ruck. Pooley looks to be more suited to a permanent forward role these days.

Koula in for Dimma perhaps? Dimma hasn't really been firing lately, let him rest and bring him back against Freo.

Salopek must also be a good chance for another game.

I had a good chat with Pooley on Saturday Night and has he lost some weight or what? He hardly looks like the footballer he was, doesn't look half as scary anymore.

I can't believe I am related to him, with his sister getting married to my cousin on the weekend I think it works out that he is a second cousin inlaw of mine now, probably not really related but I will claim it anyway.

While Koula can defend as well as the next midfielder I'd really like to see him rest and his eye heal before he's considered. I'd be looking more at Morgs to take over from Dimma, who's a more practised defender and was bst for North at the weekend I believe?

I'd like to see Koula in.

He is at the peak of his power at the moment. I don't know the severity of his eye injury but it was only a poke I thought. He ran the rest of the game out.

He's doing the hard things well and although he often kicks long and directionless it is similar to some of our midfielders style of grabbing the ball out of the ruck and just slamming it on the boot. He has provided plenty of second efforts and kicked a few goals when thrown forward.

Roll on the Koula bandwagon!

P.S. Westies have the bye.

Koula deserves a run.. his eye injury isnt half as bad as Ebo's was and as SoG35 pointed out, he did play the rest of the game, so there shouldnt be any problems there.

Just as a side note, I spoke to Mick Moylan yesterday and there's no chance of Borlace being elevated this year, unless we're absolutely strapped for injury. Bit of a shame, really, I was looking forward to seeing him in the Power colours. He hasnt had much luck with the AFL side of things, has he? :(

I still think he needs a couple more weeks for his eye to completely heal, and he needs to play a couple more games to build up strength because he's still coming off occasionally with hamstring troubles... plus there's other stuff going on I'm not allowed to talk about.

And I would hate to see him come back against the Magpies. I think he deserves to be spared that - he went for the Pies when he was little, and I don't want to see him practically thrown in the deep end against them.

You what? He is a Port Adelaide player now, Try telling him he cant play AFL footy because its against the side he use to support .

This is professional football, not school boy stuff:rolleyes:

I just think it'll be hard for him. Give me a break Shane... I know him better than you ever will, and I don't think they'll play him against Collingwood on his first match back from almost 3 years out of AFL football.

I always have trouble when Power play the team I used to support before Power joined AFL. I followed a team for 20 years and it is difficult.

That is why I hate some people saying you can only support one team.

Could also be that I treat Paul like a human being rather than some no-hoper who happens to train with the Power.

Sometimes I don't understand you guys at all... you claim to support the team, then you bag other supporters just because they don't blindly agree with everything you think they should. I'm sick of it and I know others are too.

Will you give me a ride back here? 'Cos if you will, I'll get my ticket tomorrow.

However, match attendance is basically irrelevant. A couple of bucks gets given to the SANFL. Big deal. I bet many people you do classify as supporters won't be there. *shrugs* Not being able to go to games doesn't make me any less of a supporter.

And besides, with people like YOU there, do I really want to go?

I dunno, but I sure hope you're taking a good hard look around the vicinity of the Crows race at half time...

If you go back and read your post again, you'll find that you didn't ask that at all.

And if you go back and read my post again, you'll probably find that I don't believe there are any no-hopers on the Power list.

See above.

You know what!? I'm so sick and tired of you [and others] constantly having a go at Berni and myself. Dont you ****ing DARE start this 'groupie' argument again, I've had it up to HERE with that crap. Does it ever OCCUR to you that we have FRIENDS who play for the ****ing team and we feel like talking to them? Does it ever occur to you that we might be there for research purposes [Chris's book]? No. Because you know why? You're so blinded by your own opinion[s] of us that you cant see the real reasons we're there. If you have a problem with Berni, then you have a problem with me, and I can tell you this right now, I'm not going to stand for it. This is the first and last time I'm going to tell you this: start showing us some ****ing respect, and let us do what we want to do.

Case closed.
