The NSW/ACT U18 RAMS will take on South Australia this Sunday at Richmond Oval in Adelaide.

It is the first time that a NSW/ACT underage side has played one of the traditional States in a match since 1995.

The scheduled match is part of the revised program for the RAMS this year which includes a match against a division one team.

South Australia, along with Western Australia, Victoria Country and Victoria Metro are the `traditional’ teams that make up division one at the AFL National U18 Championships each year.

NSW/ACT, Tasmania, QLD and Northern Territory play in Division II at the Championships with NSW/ACT winning in 2000 and finishing runners up in 2001/2002.

The RAMS match committee consisting of Head coach Rod Carter, Rob Kerr, Doug Daniels (ACT), Jeff Chandler and Jim Silvestro (Southern NSW) chose the 22 players yesterday for this week-end’s clash.

The team is: Kyle Archibald (Ungarie), Jared Kahlfeldt (Wagga), David Boers (Pennant Hills), Adam Leechman (Eastlake), Nick Potter (Pennant Hills), Scott Faulkner (Ainslie), Matt Leeds (East Coast Eagles), David Love (North Shore), Rhys Cutifani (Wollongong Lions), Tim Holobowski (Deniliquin), Dale Perrett (St George), Earl Shaw (Penrith), David Guy (Tuggeranong), Ed Clarke (North Shore), Brad Cross (Pennant Hills), Andrew Hodgson (Pennant Hills), David Trotter (Lockhart), Justin Barratt (Pennant Hills), Drew Dunscombe (Leeton), Steve Gill (Weston Creek), Chris Noordhof (Western Suburbs) and Glenn Stevens (Campbelltown).

This year the RAMS participation in the TAC Cup will be a reduced program of games that will include four matches against TAC Cup teams. Also included in the program will be matches against division 2 state teams, a division one state team and participation in the AFL National under 18 Championships to be held in Melbourne in the first week of July.

The schedule of games and an intensive camp program will provide all players with significant opportunities to display their football ability and potential to become AFL players in the future. Sunday's match and the RAMS program overall provides AFL Recruiting Managers with the opportunity to assess the NSW/ACT players with their peer group.
