Why is the Hume Football league, in the eastern Riverina, considered a Victorian league? Its scores are always listed in Victorian sections but to my knowledge all the teams are in NSW.

Or is this another example of ther real border between NSW and Mexico being the Murrumbidgee?..:P

Is it still affiliated with the VCFL?

I thought they (and Coreen) had recently changed across to the AFLNSWACT?

This is partially a judgement on the current scores part of my website so I'll answer it.

Hume and Coreen have been a part of AFL New South Wales for a few years now. I think they moved the same time Riverina did (they were also part of the VCFL) in the early to mid 1990's.

The reason why I have them in my Victorian list is down to practical terms. Every week in the Age and the Herald Sun, the Coreen and Hume scores are usually published. It's impractical to have to go over to the NSW list and then back again twice. I should actually be treating Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara the same way, even though they are dually affiliated (with both VCFL and SANFL) rather than a single body.

It's funny though because in the last two years, Sapphire Coast has started to make an appearance, and that remains in the New South Wales section. But that's easy to get around because they never appear in the Sunday paper, whereas Coreen and Hume do.

At least in my project section both leagues are where they belong, in New South Wales.

At a guess, I think Coreen and Hume belong to an unofficial group of leagues which also includes Tallangatta, Ovens and King and Upper Murray, may have something to do with it as well. They used to have a carnival on the Queens Birthday weekend. I think Picola was involved a couple of times as well.

The riverina is still attempting to sucede, been going on since the 1930s when there was a real push for the riverina to become part of mexico.
