We know there are issues with skills, game plan etc., but the number one issue at the moment is attitude. Actually, defensive attitude.

We need to draw a line in the sand and only accept a 100% effort towards chasing, tackling, pressuring, blocking and working for each other.

I've heard the media bullshit that this is not apart of our game plan, but it was there against Geelong for 3 quarters, it was there against the Saints last year amongst some other good wins last year. It again needs to be found and it is the foundation to implementing the spread and run. More and more goals are being scored from turnovers and we are currently being the HUNTED. We need to turn to the HUNTERS and be rabid on our attack on the footy and man.

Broken tackles can't be accepted. Running past a player for a handball receive when you could shepherd should not be accepted.

I can accept being beaten if we are simply not good enough, but I can't accept mediocre effort. This is between the ears. Say you going to do it, tell yourself you are going to do it, practice doing it, ****ing implement it.

I can accept being beaten if we are simply not good enough, but I can't accept mediocre effort.

That's the biggest single problem we have.

If we're going to draw a line in the sand it's with our own team not with Hawthorn, so I see no parallel to Dermie's half time words to the Hawks several years ago.

It's actually the point I was trying to make, be it a bit tongue in cheek. We need to draw a line in the sand for our own team and expectations, much like the Saints did a few years back. We need to lift our skills etc., but that will be a helluva a lot easier if we nail the defensive basics that have become the leading indicators (apart from the score!) for how a team is really travelling. They are also the precursor to good finals football. It just so happens that it coincides with the Hawks match.

Line in the sand and Drop them like NDS/Milne are two of the recent cliches that are bugging me lately.

I think at the moment essedon just need to find some heart. It's like that have lost all will to win. On the weekend, we were losing 2 on 1 battles, not just 1 on 1.

Hi guys,

Doing some writing for the Moonee Valley Community News website on the Bombers in a weekly spot. For those who seek an unbiased, objective look at the Bombers week to week, have a squiz and leave a comment. The link below discusses the Anzac Day debacle. Through the site, rounds 1-3 write-ups can also be accessed. I'll post a link through the Bombers thread weekly for those who are interested. Can't currently post a link as I'm a new member on Big Footy.

A realist with red and black pumping through his veins.

Couldn't agree with you more. It has to start with the defensive pressure and and contested ball.

If we do these and lose, I can handle that, because we have beaten by a better side. More of than not though, if we can implement these aspects of the game, the result should go our way.
