Question for yers.

Port Adelaide FC (ie the PAFC of many SANFL flags and that which is now in the SANFL).

How many flags, 33 or 34?

It's 36, and I'll confirm that when I'm next in Adelaide.

36 would be including the 2 that PAMFC won, though, wouldn't it?

there are 34 Premiership cups with PAFC inscribed and two with PAMFC inscribed...that is correct.

PAFC and PAMFC are the same club - and I'll prove it in October.

PAPFC is the new club, and when I prove it - PA1870 - I hope you will change your signature to the correct information.

There is too much contradiction in information to say who is right of course - but I have my view and you have yours. There's only one way to sort it out - and I'm going to do it in October, the next time I am in Adelaide.

Time Lord..

You have got it wrong...what was done at the PAFC prior to it joining the AFL was necessary to carry the clubs name to the AFL.
As I said, what you will find will not change anything except perhaps your perception.

The Port Adelaide Football Club exists only in the AFL, what was done to the club prior to it being transferred to the AFL is irrelevant..The SANFL demanded a Port Club remain in the SANFL if the name Port Adelaide Football Club was no longer going to be a part of it..We are the same supporters, so whatever you find will be meaningless to us as they are OUR clubs..and we wanted Port in the AFL...

So...the PAFC is in the AFL...not the PAPFC as you want to call it.
To get the PAFC into the AFL,, the club had to divest itself of its name in the SANFL and become a new club by the name PAMFC, the legal merrygo round is irrelevant...because the PAFC..the name...hence the club..is now in the AFL..

The Club PAFC, The PAMFC and the largest majority of supporters that represent the club know the circumstances, but it is our club, Our tradition and our History..

The legal side was forced upon us by the SANFL..but despite the way it was done...there is a simple thing to understand....

as it stands.....A club by the name Port Adelaide Football Club does not play in the SANFL...all the history books say a club by the name Port Adelaide Football Club was formed in 1870.

The records and cups show...that the PAFC has won 34 SANFL premierships and the PAMFC 2..however the PAFC/PAMFC has won 36 i.e. a Port based club has won 36.
The process of the PAFC divesting itself of the PAFC name and becoming the PAMFC is irrelevant to , the people of both clubs, we are the PAFC and the PAMFC ...and at the end of the day, the technicalities that you find will not change the fact..

that the PAFC is not the name of the club playing in the SANFL anymore and the name of the club playing in the AFL is..and all our trophies have PAFC on them not PAMFC...However we share the history.

When you go to the PAFC and the PAMFC, you will find the same people, Port People, same supporters etc, the clubs are intrinsically linked. though not legally, in every other sense.
Several Posters on this site were very closely linked to the Events of Ports AFL bid some were involved,,so your mission is fruitless.

The right answer is The Port Adelaide Football Club no longer exists in the SANFL, no matter what the prior configurations were...It only exists in the AFL now..this is the reality.

We had no other means of achieving Ports ascension to the AFL apart from the process we had to go thru..the compromise was..
to all intents and Purposes..the loss of the name PAFC from the SANFL and the Continuance of a Port based side in the SANFL with the Magpies name with in the club. however the club would not be the Port Adelaide Football Clubas that Club had moved on..

Four words, PA1870 (at the present time);

I don't believe you

I'll find out the truth myself in October - from the sources themselves, Port Power, Port Magpies, the SANFL and the AFL. Verbally and in writing. Only then will I admit that you are right - IF you are that is.

And that is my final word on the matter until then.

I believe you PA1870! Weren't you present at these club special general meetings that voted on all of this? I remember someone posting something to that affect.

I can confirm that. While drinking beer out of the TS Hill (brag, brag) I did take note that the most recent two shields on there engraved with the Port name, does say "Port Adelaide Mapgies".
