A media release just in from Norwood says that the Norwood, Payneham, and St Peters Council has refused permission for the Redlegs to move their clubrooms (and Pokies) from Woods St. around onto the Parade under the main grandstand.
It's unclear at this stage whether the council's refusal to grant an "extension" of Norwood's lease effects the current operations of their club on Woods St.

Despite giving the club previous assurances that they would support the redevelopment, the Council has now voted against the proposal - in a meeting where Norwood officials were excluded. Norwood are particularly upset, as the newly voted in Mayor has previously gone on record as being a supporter of the move of venue.

Just heard this on the radio and it sounds like Norwood and their council are at complete loggerheads after a hypocritical about face by the council.
An SANFL without Norwood would be like a SANFL without North Adelaide, ie NOT a SANFL!!
Hopefully Norwood can work around this, but if they need a bit of help lets hope that Norwood fans will have the same passion the North fans shown by our Rooster Rally.
I for one would be there giving my support or if any Norwood fan wants to start something similar to what I did I'd be willing to assist.
Good luck 'Legs.

On a similar note the Halfway Hotel has pulled their opposition to the Eagles moving their pokies to Port Rd, lets just hope they dont start opposition again once the Eagles move there!

Some commonsense at last as far as WW-T go, the Norwood situation mystifies me a little, if us Roosters can get 1500 or so to a rally what would the 'legs get for a similar event, one of the top 3 clubs in major Aussie footy history of all time(Port and East Freo being the other 2) somehow blinking out of existence would be a travesty.

Geez, bloody councillers, what a pack of tossers.

I hope that the Redlegs fight this thing all the way, even though i'm a Victorian it would be a damn shame if a proud club such as Norwood folds because of some pricks within the council.
