View Full Version : I'm Back!!!!!!!!

Thank you everyone! It's a pity that I had to do what I did - and I wish it hadn't gone that far. It takes a lot to make me reveal my disability - just in case it's seen as an excuse. But Dave W has apologised (he was probably the most important apology that I wanted) and I thank everyone else for their thoughts. I figured Wayde would post, being a fellow Aspie - and we had another Aspie come out of the closet to boot, RABoyle (DXed a year earlier than I was!). The only person I'm waiting for an apology from now is Fred.

Wedgie, there was a difference for me between the percentage thing and the PAFC thing. Part of Aspergers is a strength with numbers. I felt that my natural strength in that area was being attacked which was an indirect - and unintended I would point out - jab at my disability. That NEVER happened during the PAFC dispute. Note: Dave W's apology has been accepted so don't read anything into that for goodness sake!

I know that things can get heated, but my perception of disputes varies depending on the content. Heck, I'm an umpire for crying out loud! I'm OK as long as something that is a part of my disability isn't attacked.

Hopefully that might explain to Kev, who hasn't replied to my email yet, why I reported Dave W's post - a report which I withdraw BTW, and Dave W comes off my ignore list.

Just give me a couple of minutes to change my settings back, gang!!

Welcome back Phil, I hope that all is well.

Thanks, Wayde.

And another note that I forgot to add - and this is for Dave W.

The reason I appear intelligent (and I am - forgive the immodesty from someone with an unofficial IQ of 131) is because one of the quirks of Aspergers - the ability to absorb facts easily. Now the trouble starts in the absorbing of those facts. In other words I'm great on theory off the bat. But without practical experience using practice trips me up unless pure logic works. Result, when someone uses the social instinct that I lack, I totally miss something and trouble starts almost instantly.

In other words, I can discuss something in theoretical terms with the high level intelligence that I have. But when matters go off the rails in a certain way, I'm like a fish out of water and I try to search for answers in the only way I know how - which tends to upset and confuse people unfortunately. The intolerant resort to calling me stupid, or worse still start patronising me. Usually I can take that - as the PAFC argument proves - but like I said before to Wedgie, when a strength of my disability is attacked it's a different ball game.

I can't get my signature back! What's going on??????

Edit - That's better! Noted, Dockers Brat.

Weak as **** timelord. Everyone in this world has a hard luck story. You shouldn't use you disability to force people to bow down to you. I am sure you are a talented enough person to not have to pull the sympathy card.

Shut up, Ripper. I had no choice. If you can't accept that then that's your problem.

Anyway - you are in the minority. And the fact that you resorted to a swear word that this forum edited automatically shows how tolerant you are.

People like you are the bullies - I'm simply responding in kind.

Welcome back timelord.

Once again I'm sorry for the kerfuffle caused in the other thread. Thanks for your honesty and your explanation about the aspects of your disability. It has cleared a few things up.

It's probably best we put that whole other argument to rest. :)

Hi Phil,

You're eMail hadn't arrived by the approx 8.30pm time I last looked at the PC last night, and I fell asleep at about 9.30pm ... so I wasn't able to reply to it then. Its send time was 1.25pm so I have no idea why it wasn't here.

All I had to go on at the time was to see a thread full of apologies, and in my role here of trying to look after the board, it seemed better under those circumstances to see how that played itself out, until I received the contact from you that I expected.

Full response coming to you soon by eMail.

Cheers,

Kev

Ok a fullly detailed response has been eMailed to timelord. I converse with timelord sometimes personally, and this eMail bordered on private, so the details are not represented here. I have, though, given him permission to quote any of it if he likes, because if its not too personal for him, then its not too personal for me.

Main points for you folks as is relevant to the argument on a surface basis :
- My own contribution to the % argument was based on a stupid error of mine (accidentally saw one thing as another). I have apologised to Phil for that ballsup and for my incompetence.
- I reiterated that I certainly don't think DaveW was in any way intentionally being rude. If he was ignorant of Phil's issue it was not his fault. (It was good of Dave to respond to Phil on this point on the other thread, btw).
- My main aim is for the board to remain a place that is comfortable for everybody where possible. It is good to see that many have worked this through.
- I knew of Phil's A.S. but was unable to mention it because it is a personal issue of Phil's that is for he only to disclose. I am certain I was right in doing that.
- I am here trying to mediate this issue without sufficient knowledge or qualification. I'm just trying my darndest. If I stuff up, then of course, tell me so.

I'm open for any PMs or such re any shortcomings of mine, or any other issues. Open discussion is also fine, although pretty soon it would be good to move on and get back to the footy discussion.

To elaborate on that, Kev thought that it was Victoria that went Points Scored/(Points scored+Points conceded) and SA went the other way! Twit, Kev!

I never said it was - he didn't know. And that's the main reason why I went public. If I hadn't Dave would have continued on, and I would have left - and I think even Dave would agree with that especially now. Anyway, I also said that I knew that Dave wasn't being INTENTIONALLY rude, otherwise my reaction would have been much harsher than it was!

Absolutely right, Kev. My issue, and it can only be me to reveal it.

Kev did invite me to quote any part of the email - but I don't think I need to. I'll just reply to that personally. The only thing I will say is that it was never my intention to have Dave's post removed. All I wanted - at the time - was a back down from the perceived position he was holding, that is the ignorance of my side of the argument. I saw a patronising tone in that post which no one else did - until I came clean about AS - which I considered rude.

Anyway, having said all that - the whole thing is now closed. Everyone - except Fred I assume - now has a new understanding of Phil Gluyas and the way he thinks. I can't help that - and it doesn't always show (thank goodness). It's not something that I really wanted to reveal, but such was the situation - as I said to Ripper - I had no choice. It was a case of reveal it - or leave. I am now glad I took the former option.

And that's that!
