I''m sure that this week it's going to show that we were killed in the tackling during the game.
But I don't think this was completely a lack of effort from the guys, in fact I thought the effort was pretty good - most of the time. But so many tackles are only half effective - ie they slow the guy down - but still the ball gets out. Is this just a size problem, or are we doing something wrong.
In this area we seemed to be hurt when Hahn got some sort of injury (late in the first half?? - time seems to have no concept now, so I'm kind of guessing at what stage this was). Still shows how crucial Hahn is to us now - which is good as he's obviously taken such a major step this year.

A large reason why we lost the game today, was when they got their run on we simply could not land tackles and slow them down. You're spot on with labelling them as 'half-tackles', because they are exactly that.
Too many times Norf players would simply wriggle out of tackles or twist and turn with ease and get a disposal in.
Our guys must learn to focus on the opponent's hips and bring them to the ground by dropping your knees. This method was used successfully for years by the best tackler in the game, "Libba".
Mighty p*ssed off about the loss, the game was ours and we let it go again.
Agree totally.
Tackling the opposition can also hurt them physically and aerobically.
Counted 2 of Gia's tackles and maybe 1 of Murfs where the opposition went straight past them after half tackles.
Goes both ways, we rode heaps of tackles and got the ball out effectively.

Too many times we failed to bring the opponent to ground with the tackle or cause the ball to be spilled. I think the tackling side of our game has improved a fair bit since last year but we just can't seem to land those big hits which like chops said can hurt the opposition (add mentally to that list as well).
The way the game was played probably didn't allow for heaps of those bone crunching, truly effective tackles. Its hard enough as it is to get your shoulder into the oppositions guts and wrap them right up without the game being played at an extremely high pace and where the ball is in space a lot of the time. Personally in that situation I would be happy with only a couple of big hits and solid tackles in that result in direct turnovers - that is all you're going get on a good day and it can break the game open a bit.
You'd like to see solid physical work like Croft's hit on Jones go rewarded with a turnover and goal, they are one's that really hurt and get things going (just like a Bubba bomb from outside 50)
I have been suprised with Danny G's tackling as of late, he has been bottling up opponents well and earning himself a few free kicks, for someone his build he is doing a terrific job setting the example. Would like to see Dimma, Hahn, Johnno and Browny lay a few more as their positions and size allow for greater reward. Hahn / Dimma = midfield pressure, Johnno / Browny = fwd line pressure = goal!
Best tackling side in the league are Brisbane, top of the ladder and current premiers.
Worst tackling side, the Doggies and deservedly last on the ladder.
A crucial part of the game of which we have been inept for the last three years and we will miss the finals in each of these years.
