trying not to be too rude in response, but ...

So you don't agree that the big problem is a mental / confidence thing?

So what exactly is Rohde doing wrong?

Who would you have played up forward when Browny and Harris were injured...

You're not pleased that for 2/3rds of a match we've managed to change our style to being much more direct into the forward line - with true crumbing off Harris (and also Johnno's) contests.
Would you rather we played Wallace's style?

I thought Peter Rohde used sound coaching methods at times today. The main problem was he did not have the personel to back them up.
The rot clearly started when he tried to give Darcy a rest ready for a big last qtr. On came Bruton at the 20min mark of the 3rd qtr and the floodgates opened.
Im by no means blaming Bruton here. Its only his 2nd game.
He also had Dimma on the bench as well. Dimma is still one of our best at the centre bounces. As a matter of fact I think he should always be in there because acurate disposal is not so important at the bounce the main thing is that you get the ball foward and Dimma does this well.
What did worry me though was that it was not Rohode that moved Bruton off the ball. West approached him after the 3rd goal and told him to swap with Darcy who was in the forward pocket at this time. The runner was nowhere to be seen.

If you are going to bag the coach you could at least give reasons to back it up.

Based on what ?

This is a transitional year for the Dogs and it has nothing to do with the coach

Even though i know i should ignore such drival, i have been a critic of Rohde, but said that if he turned things around, i would take my humble pie...

Well, we may not have the wins on the board, but he's set up at the start and for 2 and a bit quarters was spot on today I though. I'm not quite up for my slice yet, but i'm getting ready.

Undoubtedly we lost momentum and let them in when Bruton moved into the ruck.

Rohde in hindsight made a mistake, I don't believe that resting Darcy with 10min to go in the third quarter was warranted, that move basically lost us the game in the end. We had the opportunity to blow them away by putting the foot down, instead Rohde decided to rest key players for the final quarter........that was a fatal mistake.

I would rather have Darcy spent half way through the last qtr with a 40+ margin in the pocket.

The other glaring move that cost us was resting Hahn on the HFF instead of in the middle. When it was crucial for us to win the centre clearances, Mitch had to be in the centre....stuff the rotation.

Again today costly turnovers and skill errors attributted to the loss.

It's painful viewing and I was dumbfounded at the final siren.

Could have really used Kmac ou there today. I thought harrison was back to being a slow hack who hurt us with costly errors, although I almost fainted when he kicked that long goal.

What was with him when he turned AWAY FROM GOAL late in the last quarter when he had the ball 20m out? Does he not posess a right foot at all, or did he think he was still in defence and trying to clear the ball?

Harrison simply panicked, he has no right foot, but he had time to prop and swing on to his left, instead he unexplicably ran into trouble when the open goal beckoned..........yet another crucial mistake.

We really lack cool heads when the pressure is on.

Do you think he takes too many gun players out of the centre square at one time? There were some very good patches winning it out of the middle, but also some very poor periods where the Kangas got it out of there very easily. It would be interesting to see who was in there when it went well, and who was in there when it wasn't working.

Speaking of costly errors, despite kicking 4 goals Johnno had three very costly turnovers in the space of 2 minutes (one handball and two kicks in the last quarter) when under relatively little pressure.

I'm normally critical of guys like Dimma in that sense, but Johnno deserves his share here. (Don't get me wrong, he's a legend and a hero of mine).Originally posted by stefoid

Peter Rohde is a good coach, i like him, i dont think he is doing much wrong at all! our club was struck by a number if key player injuries, and the players aren't confident, its not the coaches fault, our players lost a few games, and kept losing, how do you think there confidence is???

Another question I have, probably because I didnt concentrate too much on what smith did after the ballups, but where was smith playing? A lot of times he started on his own on the wing. Was he still playing half back? I can see if we had got the ball to him on his own, he could have delivered it or even had a ping, but it didnt work, we didnt get the ball to him.

was it forcing his opponent to come out of the f50 to man him up?

I think Rohde was good yesterday. Its very hard to get your match ups etc right with key players out but atleast we are starting to see some direction in regards to our style of play and we are seeing the building of what could be a potent forward line.I thought the way we moved the ball in the first half enabled us to use our pace adavantage to get more numbers around the loose balls.I think it showed us that we can still use our pace to advantage without going sideways and into space. We would be the quickest side going around IMO.
