What do you do with this guy.
He is 191cms and marks like he is 185cms
He is 94kgs and has the physical presence of a 75kg player.
He is slow
He lacks intensity
He would rather receive than go and get it.
He has no right foot (as we saw in the last qtr yesterday)
He rarely makes it into the best players list but never gets dropped.

On another thread recently Jim 440 asked me what over 50 game+ player would you drop to make way for Kmac. Jim here is your man.
I know some will disagree with me.They usually do.......

Fair dinkum that slow wheel around to get onto his left foot in the last quarter was sooooooooo frustrating.

Yes it was frustrating, but so many other players are rarely mentioned in the best players and aren't dropped.

I think he's the best from what we've got.

Has been good at times this year but will always be found if he is forced to play on players who are good overhead.I thought he was having a top game until the last 5 minutes of the third and the last quarter.I dont see him as aplayer who will take us forward but he certainly has done nothing worthy of being dropped. He has been a pretty consistent performer for us.

Consistent yes. Consistently ordinary.
Here we are short on key position types and this guy has all the physical attributes needed to be one yet he seems about as likely to be a key position as Jordan Mac does.

He hasnt been a game breaker and yes he has some pretty big weaknesses but hes done alot of good jobs for us.He murdered Riewoldt a few weeks back.I am not saying he has a mortgage on a position in the side but at the moment he is all we have to work with.

I thought Harrison was pretty ordinary, too.

We just don't have anyone to take the big forwards (Crofty aside) so Harrison is (unfortunatly) still our best bet. K-Mac is still way too light.

If Grant hadn't gone down Harrison wouldn't get a game and may still be sent packing at the end of the year if we need to free up some cash. If we do trade for a KPP, I'd say Harro is history.

Geez give the bloke a fair go, he always goes out there and does his job to the best of his ability and although at times this may not be good enough, he always has a red hot dip. Say if we were to drop him, who would we replace him with? KMAC? Murphy? Sorry but id prefer to have Harrison in the side anyday.

There is room for both Harrison and Kmac at the moment. We don't have enough talls.

I was very dissapointed with what Harro did in the last quarter, but he is clearly in our best 22 and has been a good pickup for us. It would be a joke to drop someone with his height and experience

Harrison would not get a game with any other AFL club and it just shows how bad we a re going.

His pace on the backline is disgraceful. If he has to play it would be as a bench/forward for mind.

I agree Ghost, the word in the media thanks to the Capuano saga was "mediocre" and Ben Harrison is your classic mediocre player.
He is over 190cm and that saves him week after week.
If we can pick up 3 or 4 talls in the draft maybewe can let him go.

I agree with Chops. The only reason to play harrison is because there is nobody else. However I would never play him and _not_ play Kmac, like we did against North. If we are so blessed with tallst hat we can only play one of those guys, Id pick KMac, cimply to get the kid more ground time.

Wow hang on a minute. Murderd Riewoldt?
He did well on Riewoldt that day.I even started a thread saying as much ,but the big blond still had a fair bit of it . I went on to say that I hoped we could make a key position player out of him yet.
What I have seen since doesnt impress me. He doesn't seem to work hard enough on his game and is still playing like someone half his size

Ben Harrison was fantastic today and probably should have kicked 5. Provided a target, bought the ball to ground and kicked 3 goals

Yeah Harro ripped it up out there today. Good on him too. He answered all his critics.

Such is the state of our team this year. A 190cm 94kg slacker has 11 kicks 4 handball 3 marks and kicks 3 goals. This is deemed answering all his critics.
First let me say that I have been away and taped the game.I will watch it tonight and review Harro's effort later.
On 1st glance it looks like an ok game from him but have a look around. These kind of stats are going on at every club ever week.
The age named 7 best players and Harro wasnt one of them.
More later...

Maybe there is a spot for him at half forward, but truthfully, I would rather Kmac playing there if fit.

Harrison playing down back gives me the irrits because his lack of leg and brain speed just costs goals.

Would Harrison really be in a premiership team?

Doubt it - hopefully by 2005 we won't need such middle of the road players.

He didn't answer all his critics, but he played a good game and helped turn the tide of the match our way. If he did that every week I for one would be delighted. And he isn't a slacker

Did you think Shane Ellen would be good enough to be in a premiership team? Stuart Anderson?

My simple point is to question whether Harrison would even get a game in most of the top 8 sides?
