Interesting Link I want to pass on:
http://www-aus.cricket.org/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2001/FEB/075878_RSA_13FEB2001.html
With these changes, the teams will remain in 2 seperate pools, but will now be ranked according to past games over a period of time.
Also there will be 14 teams playing, Kenya and Bangladesh have a definate spot which is an increase of 12 from the Indian and UK World Cup in the past.

Yes it is kangas, and the 2007 World Cup will be in the West Indies.
WHAT NONSENSE !!!!!
Australia is clearly the best team.
Having a world cup simply runs the risk that Australia might lose...what would the previous 2 years worth of matches count for ? NOTHING !!!
Two years worth of matches completely ignored all because ofthe result of one match (upsets happen you know !!).
Here is my proposal:
They should award the world cup to whoever is on top of the rankings at the time the competition starts.
Then have a seperate knock-out competition with the winner being awarded the Mclelland trophy.
I know I am right on this so don't even bother debating with me.

ptw,
Obviously you have thought about this much more than me so I am just going to go along with whatever you say.
After I investigated your proposal I found it is also used by the Brazilian Underwater Basketweaving Federation so it must be right http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
