AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL ACTION AT KATOOMBA FALLS THIS MONDAY

The Katoomba Lithgow Mountain Lions will be hosting a big day of football action at Katoomba Falls on the Monday of the Queens Birthday weekend.

In First Grade, starting at 2pm, The Charles Sturt University Bulldogs will be playing the Mudgee Black Swans in an official Central West Australian Football League game for points. The Bulldogs are emerging as an exciting side in the CWAFL this year, posting some big scores with an attractive style of football.

The Mudgee Black Swans are relative newcomers to the CWAFL with their distinctive original jumpers only gracing football fields of the Central West for the last two years.

The Katoomba-Lithgow Mountain Lions will be playing a curtainraiser against Mudgee reserve grade at 12 noon. Also a number of the Mountain Lions players are likely to take the field for Mudgee to get a taste of CWAFL premiership standard football.

There will be a barbecue held on the day as well as a raffle - everyone is encouraged to come on down and cheer on the Mountain Lions and stay and enjoy what promises to be an entertaining game of football.

The Mountain Lions are continuing their popular raffle of a signed Sydney Swans jumper and tickets will be available at the game on Monday.

Training continues for the Mountain Lions this week starting at 6pm on Wednesday at Tony Luchetti Oval in Lithgow and Thursday at Katoomba Falls reserve.

Last Saturday the Mountain Lions traveled to Dubbo where an undermanned seniors side went down by 149 points despite battling hard. There were still many positive signs with Chris Isles and Scott Simcoe having big games down back and Sebastian Jephcott backing up after a big game in the under 17’s to repeat the effort in the first grade. Coach Brent Kelly was pleased with many aspects of the Mountain Lions game and the side will improve with their fitness. The side will be looking to back up their efforts this Monday against Mudgee.

The under 17’s lead at one stage but in the end the Demons better organisation and experience gave them the victory.
