View Full Version : Richoagain - were you at St Mary's v Boccy Nth?
I think earlier in the season you said you were involved with St. Mary's in D4. Did you come to Elgar Park on the weekend?

I was running around in number 74 for the ressies.
Half forward line mostly.
I thought there was someone on these boards from Box Hill North!

How is D4 going this year, Richoagain?
St.Mary's play close to my place...will they be finals contenders? Are North Brunswick and UHS the main benchmarks.
Whats the story with Brunswick Power?
thanks.

I played in the 2's as well. I don't remeber 74 though, sorry.
I wore number 32, skinny bloke with ben dixon-length hair, played on the wing.

You the guy they were calling Josh, Squeak?
I think I remember you (off the top of my head I can't remember what Ben Dixon's hair looks like).
D4 this year....
St Marys will be in the finals. There's a lot of depth in the club and some very good players have come up into the seniors since the start of the year.
UHS are also very good, though our seniors beat them by about 5 or 6 goals. Our reserves lost to them by 99 points but we've won the three games since by a combined total of about 400 points.
The main contenders for the senior flag would be UHS, North Brunswick (though I'm yet to see them play) and St Marys.
Brunswick Power are a merger of the old Brunswick Amateurs (who apparently were having a lot of troubles) and the Broadmeadows Power, a team affiliated with one of the Aboriginal co-ops. Good bunch of blokes, we spoke to a few of them when we played there, but very chaotic on field still. They tried hard but couldn't put much together. Might need a few seasons together to settle the club.

Ah, hang on - at footy I'm generally called Az, not Richo, if that helps.
Yeah, Josh is I.
From the teams I've seen so far, Uni High looks the pick of them. Your seniors only beat ours by 6 goals, and it was basically even after quarter time.

Yes, but it was probably the worst our firsts have played all year (no disrespect meant to you guys).
Though, it does show that we've been a bit inconsistant - could be a problem come finals time.
I forgot to add them on before, but Mount Lilydale are pretty good, they might be a shot at the flag too.
Uni High are good, they took a lot of beating. It was fairly close until about three-quarter time when we ran away with it.

Interesting to hear of Uni High being talked about as though they're now a fearsome combination. I presume this is the green and tan UHSOB.
When they were in D3 two years ago, we scored 36.11 to their 2.4 on their home turf.
They must have picked up, because they didn't even look a D3 team that year.

That's the same team, in their green and brown get up. Go by the name of the Vultures.
I'm not sure when the Uni High - Victoria Uni merger happened, that may have something to do with their turn up in form?
Either way, they're very strong this year, as opposed to Richmond Central who came down from D3 and are getting belted most weeks.

They merged with someone? Who were Victoria Uni?

Dunno who Victoria Uni were, but I'm assuming something happened at some stage - they used to be Uni High Old Boys, now they're Uni High School - Vic Uni.
It might have been a new extra affiliation rather than a merger. You'd have to be asking someone at the club to know for sure.

No worries ... there's a bloke at work who used to play for them last year, he might know ... he lines up for Catani nowadays.

He goes from Melbourne down to Catani every weekend? I suppose it isn't really that far - I've seen blokes go stacks further to play for a home town club.

Yep he does ... Catani isn't really that far.
Now not the important question...if you can remember much, how do you think I played? Apart from the 2 open running shots I fluffed up, I didn't think I did too badly.

I remember you getting a bit of the ball - so you can't have done too badly!!
I was impressed with the Asian-looking guy wearing number 11 and the two Japanese blokes.
Number 11 wasn't Japanese as well was he? I seem to remember being told he was Vietnamese-Aussie or something. Either way, he played well.
I probably only got 7 or 8 touches, spent about a quarter and a half on the bench.
Yeah, number 11, name's Tri. He is of Vietnamese descent but is as Aussie as you and me. Is a ones player, but just got back from a busines trip overseas and was a bit too jetlagged to play seniors.
