Chris Judd, Trent Croad and Lance Whitnall

I think we should really push to get at least one, if not 2 of these players.

Everyone complains about our backline being our problem but I think our main problems are CHF and lack of quality midfielders. With a good midfield and a good forward line the backline becomes less important.

Is Chris Judd worth what West Coast would be asking? Yes.
If we want quality we have to be prepared to give quality but we have to be smart about it. Would West Coast accept Armstrong and Green and maybe a draft pick for Judd? A midfield trio of Yze, Judd and Johnstone would be the best in the competiton class-wise and only lacks a good in and under player like Scott Burns. If Simon Godfrey continues his imporovement maybe he can be that player. Add Bruce, Thompson Leoncelli, Rigoni, Brown, Heffernan and Whelan to the list, who won't have the pressure of filling so many key midfield roles anymore, and our midfield looks potent again.

It may be worth trading one of White, Jolly and Jamar. I think it should be White. We'll miss him in the middle but he is below average around the ground. Why get rid of Jolly or Jamar and get little when you can trade White and get something big. Would Carlton be interested in a White/Whitnall trade with maybe a draft pick as part of the deal? Whitnalls market value would be at an all time low at the moment and we should pounce. Would certainly take care of our CHF problem and do it now instead of waiting for the development of players we're not sure will even develop. Would deffinitely have helped if we held onto Simmonds

If can't get Whitnall we should look at Croad if he's not asking too much. Good CHF's dont grow on trees and he has the skills and build to player there. He's still only young and could easily develop into the player people thought he'd be a few years ago. I'd be willing to trade Robertson and a 2nd round pick.

We keep saying that we're developing a premiership side but when will it actually happen? It can happen next year.

Whitey has lifted his game this year, he's looked dangerous at Centre bounces & up forward.

Jolly & Jamar have been servicable in centre bounces at best & struggled around the ground.

I think your Judd trade is pretty good.

I really don't think we'd be losing as much as you think trading White. Apart from his centre square work, we'd almost gain from not having him. He has no intensity and no hardness about him at all. Ive never seen him go for the ball like he really wants it and he'll never be a forward because he can't stand his ground or take a mark or kick.

It comes down to what we need more and I think we'd be gaining a lot more from having a player like Whitnall at centre half forward than what we'd be losing having Jolly or Jamar as first ruck.

And don't underestimate Whitnall. You don't need fitness if you have a brain. He's the type of player that'd work perfectly with Nietz.

What has that got to do with anything. How do you know he won't?

Gees this is a trade ideas thread for players we might want to go after, who says Croad wants to go home, who says Whitnall would leave Carlton, who says we would trade any of the mentioned players to get them.

Burns signed up with Cololingwood last year. Hed be a very handy pick up but hes very loyal and i dont imagine hed be going anywhere.

Jamar showed a bit and i reckon it wouldnt be too bad to trade White. Looks like Hawthorn are the frontrunners for Judd though.

Croad yes, Whitnall no. He's far too injury prone, where as Croad is young and will prosper back home in Victoria!

Believe it or not theyre both 23.

I would happily take either but would rather Whitnall if given the choice. He's more experienced, more reliable and more accountable than Croad. He'd play the 'general' role perfectly and give us that stronger presence in that area of the ground which has been lacking since Schwarz retired.
