That guy Gilchrist is just a phenomanen, cricket has never seen his like before. The amount of runs he scores the average he scores them at & most importantly the speed with which he scores them is remarkable enough but when you consider that he keeps wicket as well then it gets a bit scary.I actually think that the fact that he keeps wicket actually deflect people's attention from what a good bat that he is.I am amazed that he had to wait so long to break into the Aussie side, can anyone tell me what his 1st class average is in state cricket I am assuming that it is not that special otherwise he surely would ahve been picked for the Test side before even if it was as a batsman only.
Cheers
It's no coincidence that Australia have won 16 in a row - just incredible - and that Gillie has played in ALL of them. He's the new dimension - similar in impact to Botham. Look at that innings V Pakistan in Hobart and any number of one day efforts.
Can he go on to a REALLY big one ? I can't wait for the Poms to try and sort him out. Maybe he needs to bat up the order.

Yes, It was a great century.
And.. according to Bernie's calculations Gilchrist is REALLY amazing.. He's played 15 Tests for 16 wins! Truly a sign of greatness http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
[maybe you should have said "almost all of them", Bernie http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/wink.gif ]

How good is Gilly? The world record for the fastest century is off 67 balls (Jack Gregory) and although Gilly scored his off 84 balls, still the 2nd fastest in test match history, he was scoreless of the first 15 balls faced, so in theory he scored his ton off 69 balls.
Arch, you should go into business selling Gilchrist cut-outs!

Yep, great knock by Gilly.
But lets not forget Haydo. Hayden opened the inninings and showed great courage to get 119 with all of his partners dropping around him (Slater,Langer, M.Waugh, S.Waugh, Ponting) So great knock from both of them.
Has this put all the Hayden conspirators to rest finally?
