The MCG have an online poll

Thanks. I've voted and I trust that everyone else will. I guess I'm assuming that they might actually listen to a poll that they themselves have started.
Another way that the interstate clubs could combat this debacle is not to attend a finals match at the MCG.
If Adelaide are drawn against Fremantle at the MCG in a semi and they didn't have 20,000 Adelaide fans trek across the border to see it, they might just sit up and take notice. Short term loss, long term gain.
I know it's a long shot, but they probably need to actually lose money to sit up and take notice.
I can't see this poll making any difference. The MCC know they're in the wrong, but they're too greedy to give in.
As for not coming over for games... interesting idea but its not really going to happen.

When that poll was first put up, I read somewhere the MCC were pointing to it and suggesting that the early result was in their favour. We should just make sure it doesn't stay that way. I'm pretty sure they won't take notice either but at least they can't use a stupid internet poll as a defence.
I was thinking perhaps the premier or even the AFC could ask people not to attend (although the AFC may not be in a position to do this). If people were really cut up enough about the deal and did it it would work in time. Can you imagine an Adelaide Freo final at the MCG with 20,000 non partisan people! Disaster for the MCC. Bad for the imagine of the AFL.
Being realistic I agree with you though.

Yeah you have a point actually. Still no one with any common sense would have taken notice; it would be akin to afl.com.au asking if Australian Rules was the premier football code.

Being realistic I agree with you though. I really can't imagine a football side telling their fans not to come to a game. For me, my love for the side overrides any grief I have with this contract (and I due take huge issue with this contract!) Plus the reason the contract is a problem is that it takes away home ground advantage - but the more fans there are the more it does to combat that.

Indeed!

All good points.
I think if there was some organised blackban, I wouldn't go for the future good, but otherwise I'll probably be in the car behind you on the Hume!
In the scenario I presented if it were a Freo home game it would be massively unfair as I'm sure taking into account geography and supporter base we'd have 4 supporters there for every one of theirs.

Yes, maybe!
If the AFL started scheduling all the major games that it legally can at Telstra, not sure about Collingwood home games, the issue could be forced.
When there are two finals in Melbourne the same week-end, the big one at Telstra, and the other at the MCG.
At the end of the day, if the AFL was really keen on changing the contract, it could force the MCC to change their minds within a couple of years. All it would take is a bit of gut and determination.

Guts and determination. Not a strong point of the AFL.
We need the united voice of all the interstate markets AND some support from within Victoria to force the AFL to really act.
Jacko won't do it. He seems to content on his farewell tour to get his hands dirty now.
I'm a strong supporter of the method you describe as well. Give them the crap games.
What I fear is that if there is a situation like:
1st Preliminary: 2nd Adelaide vs 3rd Port Adelaide
2nd Preliminary: 1st Brisbane vs 4th Essendon
The AFL will fold to the Bombers supporters and the MCC and play the Brisbane home match in Melbourne.
If the AFL can bend the rules like that (and I bet they'd find a way) then this contract will be here to stay.
