View Full Version : Sydneys plight?
Can anyone tell me how Sydneys situation (being insolvent) is in comparison to Fitzroys situation (and us needing to go) ?
Also, did the AFL change the rule about people donating money to the club after the merger?
Sydney mever merged with anyone. They were relocated from Lakeside Oval in 1982 as South Melbourne. People can donate money to whoever they like if you want to donate money to Fitzroy I can give you the details.

After the amount I spent yesterday at the pub I could do with some. :D
I was talking more about 2003....i.e Sydney being close to bankruptcy.
In the Hore Lacy book it was mentioned that the AFL blocked payments to clubs similar to Bernie Ahern, but Sydney appear to have had the same thing happen recently.
Sydney's been close to bankruptcy for years. I can remember when Mike Willesse bought them and sold them to the AFL for $10 to ensure they survive. The AFL has pumped well in excess of $10mill into the Swans over the years in extra financial support.
