"RYAN Campbell has signed a new contract ending speculation he could leave the Western Warriors.

Campbell, 31, said he was in the best form of his career and wanted to extend that run with his home state.

The dashing batsman and exciting wicketkeeper revealed that he had held discussions with three other states about his playing future.

Campbell (pictured) said the appointment last week of coach Wayne Clark to resume at the Warriors helm had influenced his decision to sign a new deal.

"Wayne has been close to me for many years and I'd have to say that, yes, his appointment had a lot to do with my decision to stay," Campbell said.

"When he rang and said hurry up and sign my contract, I got on with the job of making the decision to stay here.

"You know where you stand with Wayne Clark and I look forward to working with him again."

Campbell clearly indicated a firm commitment to regain his permanent Warriors spot and to continue his colourful career.

"The last couple of seasons, I'm really proud of what I've achieved in cricket.

"I'm in the best form of my career. I want to continue that playing for WA.

"If anyone wants my spot, they are going to have to play bloody well to push me out."

Campbell declared full allegiance to the Warriors.

"I am here to stay," he said.

"At the end of the day, this is my home and this is where all of my best friends are.

"All I need was backing from the International and Interstate committee and I have been given that."

Apparently both he and Hussey had approached the TCA.
