View Full Version : Hoping Teams Lose!
The Donners

Well, we're poised at 3 and 5 hoping to move to 4 and 5. In order for the Dons to make the 8 I've been considering which teams we need to lose to have a chance of jumping. I've thought of a few teams that I'll be hoping loses from here on in... St. Kilda, Port Adelaide and Sydney. I honestly believe these 3 teams currently in the 8 are all possibilities for teams for Essendon to leapfrog. My prediction for the Dons pre-season, to my mates, was Dons to finish 5-8, I think we're back on track.
Though it's a negative thread for the other teams, I'm staying positive for the mighty Dons! :thumbsu:

You know a week is a long time in footy my friend. The problem is we haven't got the consistency side of our game fixed yet. Thats why im still taking it one week at a time with our mob.
lol Donners. I've tipped Saints to lose this weekend but I think they've hit their trough and will start to win again. They've got a good draw from what I can gather.
Definitely a chance to jump above the Swans and Power though. But need to keep a level head and play it one week at a time, like centurion said.

Haha me too Donners, lets hope we belt bitchmond and go through the doggies the follwing week!
We need:
Melbourne over Port Adelaide
West Coast over St Kilda
Adelaide over Brisbane Lions
Western Bulldogs over North Melbourne
The top 2 games are still bad if the Demons and Eagles win though, seeing as they are on 3 wins as we are. Makes this game against the Tigers so very important if finals is what the club wants to achieve. Lose this weekends game and it's officially over for mine.

Nothing wrong with hoping teams lose, as long as it doesn't include Essendon.
We don't need anything. Concentrate on our own game and grind out a solid performance each week and the wins will come and with it losses for rivals in the same 7th-10th bracket.
i hope we lose (trying to reverse jynx so we win) :D

Freo to win in Sydney would be nice too...
...Sydney, Port and Carlton are still the most likely to drop, and of course we need to finish above Brissy too (just rest up and stay in bed Fev!)

I am pretty confident we will finish above Sydney and Port, and 50/50 with Carlton.
Bolton and Seaby injuries will hurt the Swans.

LOL..Dream on, Bummers will win no more than 8 games for the year, last year was a false dawn for you boys.
(yeah yeah, let me have it cos my blues are your bitches)
Carlton is a good chance to win their next 6. Good start to the season and now the easier part of the draw.
No way we'll catch you if you get to 11-3 at that point. And you'll need to, because it might be tough to win more than 3 in the last part of the draw. Don't think 14-8 will get you top 4.

Don't I know it, last part of the draw is none too friendly & I expect us to drop 1 or 2 of the next 6 so just making the 8 will be a good result. I'm not getting ahead of myself (unlike a lot of my fellow supporters) and thinking top 4/premiership chance.
Gotta be realistic.

Blues will finish 2nd. Problem will be your lack of a quality big man up forward when it comes to finals time imho, out in straight sets.

Blues will finish 2nd.
That is possibly the worst prediction ever. Blues will not even finish top 4! To speculate that they will finish above either Collingwood or Geelong is VERY VERY unlikely.
Top 4 will most probably be:
Geelong
Collingwood
Freo
Doggies
Carlton are no chance to get near the top 4...

I never said Carlton would finish ahead of Collingwood. ;)
They could be level with both Geelong and Fremantle after this round and they're already level with the Bulldogs.

I'll give you 50-1 on that if you like.
They will finish 6th-10th.

Unless Brisbane smash Collingwood tonight (unlikely), we'll hold our spot in the 8.
Let's hope we keep flying up, up.
Heaps of results should go our way...
Geel > Melb
Rich > Port
Coll > Bris
Freo > North
... and if the Hawks beat the Swans then next weekend we'll be fighting the Swannies for 7th. Richmond winning, however, does piss me off in a sense because it's a painful reminder as to how ****ing overrated Port Adelaide are. Disgusted we keep losing to an awful club and football team.

They will finish 6th-10th.
Can I take you up on that? I'm happy to lose a lazy tenner on slightest chance you'll have to cough up 500 :D

It's not a problem at all when Collingwood's losing.
Possessions are fleeting etc.

****ing Hawthorn win and run into the 8. Push us out. We are just lucky Port Adelaide & the Lions lost or we could be 10th/11th now.
Next week the Hawks have Adelaide in Tasmania and we have Geelong. Absolutely brilliant :(
After the Port loss, we won the next three and went on a run. Today was another joke of a loss so we can bounce back. But playing Geelong with likely injuries to our side and Geelong in red hot form makes us no chance for that IMO. Hawthorn, Adelaide (away), Melbourne, West Coast (home), North Melbourne, St Kilda, Carlton - All coming up after Geelong.
We need to beat most of those to make the finals. A possible run could emerge if we restart from what we were doing and forget this weeks result.

geelong isn't in great form tbh.
out of those 8, i would say we should realistically win 5. so if we're 10-9 after round 19, we'd be in with a show of the 8.

Gee, how big is the Hawks Bombers game now...
Fire up boys
Hawks should beat Adelaide
We're a chance against a very depleted Geelong on the back of a game over in the west.
A win for both teams would indeed make Round 13 something to fight for. Unlike round 6, where both teams at 1-4 just wanted a win regardless of what happened, there's a lot more fire in the tank leading up to this battle. :D

Don't honestly care about the 8 half-way through.
Barely even care if we finish 7th, 8th or 9th.
We're building towards something good, that's what matters.
