Great start, come out tommorow and score lots of runs quickly and declare for around 500. Send em in and knock em down. Enter day three with a healthy lead.

One problem though, Tendulkar is yet to fire can we keep him quiet for three tests in a row or is a double century around the corner?

Australia 6/350. Another middle order mini collapse. Hayden still going on 166.

Punter now has scored 6 rins in 4 innings at the amazing average of 1.5 for the series.

Only Steve Waugh and Matty Hayden have averaged over 40 for the series.

Ponting ANOTHER Duck! I knew we should of gone with Martyn.

Currently we're 7/374 with Hayden on 190*

if hayden can bat through the innings he could join Taylor as the only batsmen to bat through an innings without getting out. Though Taylor faced the first ball of the innings and made 334n.o.

Can anyone tell me what happened with steve waugh? How could he have handled the ball?

Daddy - I'm listening to the coverage on the ABC radio and they are saying the ball was spinning back towards his wickets and just as a reflex he stuck his hand down and put it in the way of the ball (which was probably to of his the wicket) and the Indians appealed. The rest is now history.

Australia is all out for 391, Hayden was the last man out. Australia lost 7 wickets for 65 runs today - another shocker!!

Harbajan Singh got 7 wickets for that innings. He now has taken 20 wickets in the past 2 tests.

Well not all is lost there 90 in front with 1 wicket in hand. We will get that wicket nice and quick tommorow morning and then we hit back with the bat. Im guessing Ponting and Gilchrist will have good scores in the second innings to make up for there bad performances lately.
But i think another draw is on the cards, we will need to make a big enough target that cant be caught easily cos i have little faith in my bowlers to get them all out in one day.

What do you mean another draw? According to my dodgy memory Australia hasn't been in a test match draw since we were in Sri Lanka in 1999.

I don't think this one will be a draw either for what it's worth.

Just heard Gilly is batting at 3 in the second innings. I reckon it's a good move, despite Langer's improved scoring rate of the past few innings. Gilly hasn't scored any runs down the order in the last three bats and if gets going he can score a lot of runs fast. We need to set a target and do it quickly, Gilly should help (if he doesn't get out early again).

Hayden and Gilchrist just got out. Were still looking all right at2/90. Unforutnately Gilchrist only got 1.

I'll make a prediction

if we get 150 infront, we'll win the match.

6/211 - Ponting out. He struggled again - he can't wait to get back to Australia.

Were 101 infront. I'll stick by my guns and say 150 will be enough to win the match.

120 may even give us an outside chance.

I did a bit of research on 4th Innings chases in India. Here are the results i found:

Victory chasing more than 150 runs:
1. West Indies 5/276 chasing 276 - 1987/88 at Delhi v India
2. India 8/256 chasing 254 - 1964/65 at Mumbai v Australia
3. England 4/208 chasing 207 - 1972/73 at Delhi v India
4. Australia 2/195 chasing 194 - 1997/98 at Bangalore v India
5. West Indies 4/192 chasing 192 - 1966/67 at Mumbai v India
6. India 3/190 chasing 190 - 2000/01 at Delhi v Zimbabwe
7. India 3/181 chasing 181 - 1969/70 at Delhi v Australia
8. South Africa 6/164 chasing 153 - 1999/2000 at Mumbai v India
9. India 2/151 chasing 151 - 1995/96 at Bangalore v India

Loss chasing less than 200 runs:
1. South Africa 105 chasing 170 - 1996/97 at Ahmedabad v India
2. New Zealand 127 chasing 188 - 1969/70 at Mumbai v India
3. England 163 chasing 192 - 1972/73 at Calcutta

So India have never lossed chasing under 200, and they've only one once chasing more 200 in India.

So, if we can get our lead to more than 200 we should win based on the history. If we can't get to our lead to 200 than they will probably win. But records are made to broken.

I still think Australia will win with a lead of 150.

Australia all out for 264 - lead by 154.
This will be a perfect score to see whether my prdiection was right or wrong.

Anyway, India will be the 10th team ever to win chasing over 150 in India.
Australia will be the 4th team ever to win defending under 200 in India.
