now that gas is gawn, we need some1 to step up to the plate but importantly establish himself as our regular full-back, iv always felt the gas is the best CHB in the league bar-none, so it would help if he could play there more often than full-back!

AK is too slow for full-back anyhow the way he peels off and takes the brave marks in front of oncoming traffic is too valuable to lose.

zantuck has shown he can play it with aplomb, but i prefer him taking the 3rd best forward......

its up to royce, in the past i feel hes shown glimpses of being a goer at full-back, now its time for spud to throw the challenge down and say "royce, u wont get dropped for 11 weeks, but by hell if you dont show something ur out"

make or break for the lad

Agree he's got to step up.

But remember Ben Holland is still to come back although he'll take a couple of weeks to get used to the pace of AFL once again. He also can really only take a certain type of player though like a Lucas or a Whitnall. The loss of Gaspar is really going to hurt against quick forwards who are good on the lead such as Tarrant.

I've been thinking through our defensive options and I am not sure that Royce features highly!

Our intredid correspondent Carlos noted in another thread that Seargant Schulz was playing across CHB last weekend for Coburg. What I have seen of him says that he has speed and mobility of Hall along with the size and strength (OK - maybe just the size at this stage) of Holland.

I would like to see him play in here but not sure if Spud is a little too conservative for that!

With the return of Ottens last Friday, I couldn't help but think that Hall looked a little homeless - like he didn't have a true spot to play in. Now he can best be described as a utility player and he has played defence before, albeit a little while ago. He would probably be Spud's first pick to play back.

Ben Holland shouldn't be far away from returning but as has been pointed out, he really can only play on the gorilla's, not the quicker, faster players.

Royce Vardy is big and strong enough but lacks a yard of pace and is really only capable of spoiling. He is an OK mark but his kicking and decision making are a liability. I would suggest that he is the last choice moving forward.
