View Full Version : Future Coach
Rehny (Is he still sueing the club?) would be my choice at this stage but I hope its not an issue for a few years.

TJ, going by this list of names, are you serious...

I think BRENTON PHILLIPS
I did want Hart to succeed Blight, but I'm past that.
Of that lot, only Neil Craig. Heck, half of them are failed SANFL coaches.

Yep, there are some shockers there which is why I gave you the last option.
Mind you I tried to pick ex Crows which limited selections.
Ask yourself this question then; if these were the candidates for the job who would you tip or would you tip another person REMOTE from the club.

Mark Bickley.

Terry Wallace.

Craigy is the best of that lot and if Ayers was not around I am sure Craigy would be the number 1 choice. Rehn might become our next assistant.

**** Rehn off.
He chose to leave the club, I don't see why he should be welcomed back... has he finished suing us yet?

Amen to that. Very good tactician.
Neil Craig of the miserable collection offered by TJ. ;)

Id say Terry Wallace first and then Mark Bickley.
Ideally, my first choice would be Garry Lyon.
But I don't think he will leave the media to do coaching. Maybe to coach Melbourne he would but I doubt he would come to the Crows.
Of the list mentioned I would probably chose Rehn, given that he can continue his good work with West for a couple of years first or joins the Crows as an assistant for a few years.
If Ayres retires after this year I would chose Wallace.
If I had to guess who will be our next coach I would guess Craig but I don't think he did enough as Norwood coach to deserve it.

I guess you feel the same about Darren Jarman for not playing for us to start with then.
Move on, the past is the past.

Mong I reckon Garry Lyon would make a good choice.
I love his commentary and insight into some of the "plays".
As for Terry Wallace he would not get my vote purely because of his high octave voice.
Whats that got to do with it I hear you ask?
Probabaly f*ck all; but if you are going to have a Coach berate you in the "science of the game"he might as well have balls.
Wallace, John Platten, Matthew Campbell - Squeak, squeaky and Squeakier:D
Max Bickley, Marks ol' man was an excellent country coach so he'd probably passed on a few genes but Mark looks to have his mind set on the media fullstop.

Its not exactly a voice to inspire players before they go out onto the field of play, is it? ;) On that point, was it Wallace who wouldn't speak much to the players before the match on game day?

Im not sure Dave but his voice was pretty grating on the weekend (against Hawthorn)
Do people seriously think Neil Craig will get a coaches job...seriously:eek:

No. I still want to kick Neil Kerley's arse over that one however!
From left field - Rodney Eade.
For gods sake - not never ever - Darel Hart. If they ever do, thats it I will go to a monastery and become a monk. I will need someting spirtiual at that stage.
Eade isn't left field, he and Wallace are usually the first two mentioned when there's talk of replacement coaches.

Have you ever met him Dave?? I don't think so, otherwise you would never have wanted Harty as our coach.
He "coached" my younger son in the North Adelaide U/15 special squad and a more illiterate Neanderthal type grunter without strategy I have yet to observe.
Harty??? No thank you!!

If he was goint to sue the AFL and the SANFL he had to include the AFC as his emplpyer anyway
His career was ruined. I think its very harsh for you to expect him to just take it.
The man had to have three knee reconstructions and was instrumental in us winning two flags
For that, we should forgive just about anything.
Rehn is a club champion and desreves respect.

Harty??? No thank you!! Just look at the SANFl results so far this season. He has got a decent squad that should do better but hell they are getting tashed regulary by 100+ points. I reckon all the bigfooty posters on this board would make better coaches. Hart is useless. He will get the sack soon IMHO.;)

this is a very stupid thread. BUT. I agree with Matt, definately not Rehn. I don't like him at all. He was always a grumpy bugger, and yes I know he had bad knees etc but he was a down right pain in the bum sometimes. He left us. I didn't like that at all. We as a club stood by him through the tuff times. He is suing the club and I don't think that is right. He will be remembered for the good times (97 & 98) but he wouldn't be a good coach for us I don't think.

I agree with you both. Shaun Rehn was one person I never liked from day one. He was a grumpy old bugger before he did his knee. He had no time for anyone and was down right rude to everyone!
I'd rather have anyone coach us than him!
