Good to see two new sponsors in Sanyo and Integrated on board already at the GWS/Folau press conference today. :thumbsu:
Anyone know of any other sponsors who have signed up already?

Sponsors want exposure. Back page exposure (maybe front page) in the big Sydney dailies and on the news is as good as it gets. Pushing NRL off the back page will cause sponsors to change teams. Not the fanatics but the companies who want some return on investment will go where the news goes. Falau is big news and after a couple of days thought I say good on GWS.
ISC is on the socks so I guess you are right Willo#6
Interesting, as Sanyo are also long term major sponsors of the Penrith Panthers.
Good to see.

After two Broncos being picked up by AFL as marquee players for the two new franchises, Izzies news has been huge here in Brissie. Its actually taken me half an hour to read all the articles, with so many coming from the NRL denial brigade "won't affect us much".
Usually I get one page AFL seven pages back! So the AFLs recruitment of Hunt and Folau has already been gold marketing, and sponsors will go with the flow.
One NRLer said that 'AFL obviously has more money than sense'.
With a 30million booty to splash around, most NRL clubs would be highly envious, as would their players. Broncos CEO said he'd be lucky to be able to give Folau half of what AFL has per year.
Now NRL players are demanding higher salary caps to ward off AFL and RU poaching. But with higher pay will come need to trim number of clubs as strugglers wilt. All this when they dream to expand again.
Robert Craddock (journalist) said it best last week when his headline read 'NRL: Cracked Code'. Watch it steadily fall apart at its seams, especially as sponsors like Sanyo firstly share their attention on codes, and then opt to prefer the greater revenue streams of AFL.

Team GWS are targeting about 100 sponsors, and have been spruiking that they have 50 already on board ... who has a clue who they are!? ... wouldn't want to be paying too much for the pleasure, and good luck keeping them seeing they don't even get a mention on the website (that's if they exist):thumbsd:

Sour grapes from a Swans Fan???????
The fact is that people and companies in western Sydney are putting their money where the publicity is. Constant news appearances has got people shifting their sponsorship from NRL and maybe Swans. There are ex Victorians, SA and WA people everywhere and just because they have moved does not mean they have stopped loving the game. This gives them an excuse to attend games in their home town rather than a couple of games in Melbourne and the odd game at ANZ.
Rather than bagging the Club you would do better to think about ho wgood it is for the game and the rivalry games in the future will be awesome.

This is all I've from heard from most Swans fans in the last 12 months and I find it absolutely incredible to be honest.
Support your own club by all means, but surely the growth of the sport, especially in a market like Sydney, is paramount?
I guess not.
I just find their constant negativity about GWS astounding
I bet Sanyo and Integrated were spewing with the live National coverage on Ch 9 and 7, plus Foxtel of the GWS presser. ;)

Sanyo also have their headquarters in Western Sydney at Blacktown. Wonder how long they will keep sponsoring the Panthers now that they are on board with GWS?

I'm a Swans supporter and I see the big picture. GWS will be great for our game in Sydney/NSW. :thumbsu:

Can you point us in the direction of where GWS have been spruiking that they have 50 sponsors already on board?

Wouldn't surprise me if they stay on board with both. Different audiences, higher brand visibility. Think Hyundai with the A-League and Carlton, as well as Brisbane's training centre.

... straight from the CEO's mouth! ... wouldn't want to be one who has actually signed the cheque though, not much bang for your buck! It's not rocket surgery to have a sponsor's page on your website, and stick a couple of logos and link on it ... again if they exist!
Don't get me wrong, the second team is a must for the code, and they will succeed in spite of themselves, but having had dealings with both franchises, GWS have a lot of catching up to do in all areas, not the least being professionalism, which is to be expected. They also need to acknowledge when they make a mistake and fix it. Lots of "big picture" stuff, lots of new staff (who are not new), not much substance though:(

Fair point and I do wonder what's going on with the official GWS website when you compare it to the Gold Coast official site.

I suspect the sponsors have yet to kick the tin but are signed up. The GWS website is another matter entirely. They do seem to have some information flow and communicaton issues from what I have seen. A few weeks ago after lots of comments they launched TAC Central which was going to be all things to all people. In reality it does not do much other than a match report.
Why they have not got short profiles on the TAC Cup squad including their contracted players and now their 3 new boys from NT and Riverina has got me stumped. I would have thought it would be a simple way to engage the Sydney AFL community as well as those other code supporters who know the boys.
I fully support GWS as a team in many ways but as whiteandred says they seem to struggle on some detail
