From the rundown in this morning's Ballarat Courier, Geelong's reserves will have a full-strength squad for the game against North Ballarat at the Northern Oval on Creswick Road:
GEELONG (VFL)
B: Callan Woolnough Finnin
HB: White McGrath Grgic
C: Mackie Rahilly Clarke
HF: Byrnes Gardiner Moloney
FF: Playfair S. Johnson Lonergan
Foll.: Street D. Johnson Bartel
Inter.: (from) Jorgensen Carrazo Egan Sleeman Jovanic Cook Lyons Trevaskis
That's from Page 37 in this morning's paper, with an adjoining article, written from the Roosters' angle.
I'll put forth the link and the article, if anyone's interested.

Geelong should have a good win in the VFL provided our players don't freeze to death down at Ballarat on Sunday. :p

Hey now, my friend! It's never that cold this way-- no colder than it is in Geelong or Melbourne, anyway! :D
It's not like we're going to get snow in the city of Ballarat on Sunday, like I might encounter in Ballan tomorrow.
Should be an easy win, given the way the Roosters have been playing this season. Very much an up-and-down form for the local side here, and their coach has often complained that they're having grave problems putting four quarters of footy together for a game at a time, let alone on a consistent basis.
But nonetheless, that's a formidable side that Geelong's VFLers possess. I'm sure it's the envy of a lot of senior AFL teams that have a squad in the VFL competition.
Hope we can get some of the Geelong BigFooty regulars here for the game on Sunday, at the Northern Oval. Would love to have some others join us on Sunday...
If you're coming, bring a hooded jacket, just to be safe, as well as a good picnic lunch and a thermos. :)

Unfortunately, I wont be able to make it to the game on Sunday, so I'll have to settle for the match reports.

I'll do my best to provide what I can in the way of an eyewitness account, then.
That, and provide the published online reports from the Ballarat Courier and/or the Geelong Advertiser in their Monday editions.

With a curtain-raiser at 11:20 a.m., too. :)
The North Ballarat Rebels (the Roosters' ressies) will be playing a friendly against Port Melbourne.

Just got back from a very wet and very cold Northern Oval, and the VFL Cats were victorious today, doubling up North Ballarat.
Full time score
[b]North Ballarat 0.3... 1.5... 4.8... 4.8 (32)
Geelong 3.6... 5.8... 6.10... 8.16 (64)
Geelong's goalkickers: S. Johnson 3, Mackie, Lonergan, Gardiner, Byrnes, Cook.
The best on ground for Geelong, in my view, were (not surprisingly) Steve Johnson, Charlie Gardiner, Tom Lonergan, Henry Playfair and Shannon Byrnes.
James Bartel and Mitchell White were a bit of a disappointment, IMO. I can't understand why Bartel had a bit of an off game, but White looks like a player who is devoid of any confidence at the moment, and knows that he's counting down the days until his impending delisting at the end of the season.
Another one, we presume, who knows the end is nigh is Peter Street. He walked by me and NakedDeadGuy at halftime, and he was in street clothes and not appearing to carry any kind of an injury. Perhaps this is the start of a trend where he won't be picked, due to the development of players such as Playfair, among others.
But all in all, a comprehensive win for the Cats, on an ugly day where they clearly overmatched their opponent and beat them convincingly all over the ground.

Interesting you_idiot - as we discussed, it's funny how people see things differently watching the same game! I thougt Bartel was doing some good hard work and his skills outside stood out. White is just playing time out, but again I thought he was good in defence. On a day that didn't suit tall forwards Lonergan and Playfair, while making contests, had little influence on the game.
My best - Shannon Byrnes, Tim Callan (this kid is ready Bomber!), Steve Johnson, Matthew Egan (really impressed with this bloke - played FB/CHB, is a real big unit, attacks the ball fearlessly, used it well, is 19, listed at 194cm and 99kg. I'm on the bandwagon! ) and Ben Finnin.

Yeah, it is interesting. Which doesn't mean that one person or the other is wrong. :)

I won't doubt you there-- but I guess I'm just disappointed with Bartel because I'm expecting such more from him at the ressies level.
But it could be a matter of time before he's back playing AFL footy.

I thought Mitch looked rather clumsy at times. Regardless, he's definitely appearing to be playing out the string.

Of that lot, I'll agree that Callan looks ready, Egan was impressive, and Byrnes surprised me. Finnin, I think, needs a tad bit more work in the 2's.

How did David Clarke perform in the wet conditions against Ballarat??

No better nor no worse than the general consensus, really. Didn't make very many mistakes, but really didn't do anything to suggest that he stood out.
Another game or more in the 2's wouldn't hurt him, IMO.

Callan will have his work cut out to make the seniors. We have an abudance of small/medium defenders.
Is Finnin big enough to mould into a KP defender? I've never seen him play.

Disagree.
Whilst we have some smallish defenders, we don't have many like Tim Callan.
He is the link man type, a guy with excellent foot skills. Outside of Dash, we're lacking greatly in that area.
IMO Callan will take Sando's spot by half way through next season.

Tall enough, but nowhere near strong enough.
He's very skinny, and will probably remain so. He's a permanent flanker.

Then why not give Tim Callan a chance this year with the season gone as far as finals are concerned?? Brenton Sanderson can be moved forward like Brad Sholl was towards the end of his career.
Sanderson looks like he'll play midfield for the rest of the year.I'd like to see Callan get a game.He could replace someone like Kelly next week.Slade would replace DJ.

Good question.
He deserves a run, but i think a few are ahead of him.
Namely Byrnes, Playfair and Moloney.
I loved the way Timmy played in the TAC Cup last year, he isn't overly athletic but makes up for it with his decision making and foot skills.
Would add toughness to the team as well.
